Physical pain due to anxiety

Hello

I hope everyone is doing ok!

I never had anxiety before until about two years ago after a personal incident and I was never really able to shake it off.

About a year ago, that's when the physical aspect started happening.

It started with my arms and legs feeling a bit strange, like I had slept on them the whole night: week, pins and needles, hot and cold feeling. From that it progressed to muscle stiffness, a swaing sensation, lightheaded and a whole bunch of other symptoms.

My legs are the worst! I feel this terrible undescribable pain, weakness and stiffness, it's so bad sometimes, that I can't even walk properly, like my balance is off. This weekend was especially bad, my legs actually feel ill and incredibly sore. I was having chills all over my body, terrible headache and just feeling sick. The left leg is the worst, sometimes it gets do bad that i can't move it properly, like the nerve is being pinched.

I've done all sorts of tests and everything is fine.

The doctors have given me different medication for anxiety which I always seems to respond quite well in the beginning, however I feel that it stops working after a while and I go back to zero.

It's so debilitating and it gets so frustrating trying to explain this to other people because they just look at me and say something like "Dont worry, its just a phase!".

I'm losing my mind here and i fear I'm letting everyone down, specially my partner because I feel weak and crappy all the time to go out and do normal things, which makes the anxiety even worst!

Anyway, I hope it's really just anxiety and not some underlaying disease...

Any words of wisdom would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

hi, first of all your not alone! i experience this nearly every day! i used to walk all the time and it never bothered me now when i go out walking im coming home knackered and weak legs etc. I get twitching in my body and i get pain too. My muscles get sore sometimes like ive just done a big session at the gym when really ive done nothing. I do push through and i still go out walking and stuff because if i dont my mind goes crazy. Its unreal the way anxiety makes you feel. I too am still terrified theres some underlying problem but keep being reassured that anxiety can cause all of these problems. I also get a racing heart every single day, most days i can forget about it snd other days it feels like it takes over my life. You will always have good and bad days, when you get good days grab them and do something with them and when you have bad days just know its only another bad day, its not a bad life, your going to be okay because it hasnt hurt you in the past and just wait for they good days coming! I hope you find a way of coping x

      Hi!

Thank you so much for you kind words. My heart plays up a bit sometimes as well but I don't think about it as I know it's just stress.

Doing any type of exercise is a big no no at the moment as I feel my muscles tighten up like crazy and it takes a good few days to get better.

But I'll try to remind myself to really enjoy the good days, thanks for the tip, it will help, for sure!
