Physical Therapy and Accupuncture

i have been suffering with foot neuropathy for 3 years. My symptoms were burning and pins and needles. The symptoms are now getting worse. i now have foot and leg pain. I am allergic to many meds so I am trying to avoid them.

Has anyone had success with accupuncture and physical therapy. I found a local clinic that provides both services. I live in the US.

Hi I have has physical therapy for years. Only helped me move my toes nothing else sadly. I have severe nerve pain in my right foot ankle and leg. I have been trying acupuncture so far no results. Only been there 3 times. Afterwards i get severe soreness for weeks since that happens to some people which is awful. I will keep u updated if it helps at all. Living with this has been a nightmare.

i tried acupuncture and it didn't work for me, Physio does now though. My foot and toe problems seem to be linked to the tendons that run up my calves. I have to do a lot of stretching excercises and it helps. it doesn't fix me but since i started the pains have decreased.

I have reactions to so called natural therapies and medications. I have neuropathy in both hands and arms and ohysical exertion however slight, makes it worse. I tolerate my symptoms while I am in the UK and wait for the lovely hot Italian sun to get rid of the discomfort in the summer.

sorry .. I should add that i now wear good foot wear... supporting my arches...

I'm also a good weight now (lost a stone) which may have helped.

sometimes ... i get really bad pain and an ice pack on sole of the foot helps.

But as i say things are getting better.

I think i'm giving up on acupuncture. It keeps making the pain wore. It's like getting an emg which is hell. Oh boy. I was hoping it would help. I'm cursed.

I find that so called natural treatments cause me more pain too and medications only cause me side effects.

I tried chiropractory and then deep tissue massage when the chiropractory caused me even more pain. Both these treatments left me in severe pain and exhaustion for nine months. Even though I to,d the doctor that I was sure the chiropractor was to blame, he insisted on blood tests for conditions that I felt sure I didn't have. The blood test was so badly done that I was left with permanent neuralgia on top of the original aches and pains I had! The tests were negative which I suspected all along and I was so upset and angry with the nurse that I couldn't face going back for a follow up appointment. The doctor was so sympathetic that hr did the unusual thing of telling my dad my test results so he could tell me.

I never did get a definitive diagnosis for the nine months of symptoms I had but I am sure to this day that it was a huge reaction to chiropractory and deep tissue massage. Others have emailed me about suffering very similar side effects with these treatments and they are still getting ongoing problems and having tests but not finding answers, At least my side effects went away although I was left with neuralgia which only gets better when I have three months of hot weather in Italy.

Acupuncture doesn't seem to help many with this sort of problem.

I'm going to try a night splint to stretch my tendons over night.

I'm convinced that I have Plantar Fasiitis / Heel Spur and this may help.

    I'll report back.

Go to your doctor to find out if you have plantar fasciitis.; you will get an accurate diagnosis. My dad self diagnosed bursitis, but when he went to his doctor, he was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. You could cause yourself harm using a splint for a condition you don't know for certain you have. Even if you have plantar fasciitis, the condition often goes away without doing anything. I have had plantar fasciitis several times and it went away on its own.

I've been to the docs and the physio and apparently I do have PF and periphial neuropathy.

Stretching my calves via a multitude of excercises helps my PF but I dont seem to able to fit in enough excecise in the average day.
