Has anyone did the full treatment with the combo Flagy and Bactrim? I'm trying to deal with side affects without letting it through me into a full blown panic attack 😕 I had vegatable broth and put in a teaspoon of carrot powder and added a teaspoon of olive oil after I was done heating the vegetable broth do you think the olive oil was okay to add ? What do you all do for proteins like meats or is meats not added to the low fiber diet ?

    Hi

It sounds to me like you had the capsules.  You must take plenty of water with and after taking them.  I suspect they might take a bit longer to work, as your system first has to break down the coating.  I take the powder, 2 sachets a day each with 12 oz water and get it down very quickly so it starts to work in the tummy straight away and not anywhere else.  Some people have reported very quick results and for others it took longer.  I'm guessing it depends on how bunged up you were, or just how much you actually had in your system.  Input and output are related so if you have not been putting much in, there is not so much to come out, so to speak!

Hi, thanks I drank a big glass of diluting juice then about an hour later had a cuppa. I did manage a small one last night so hopefully things are starting to move.

Mrsl just like Janet I take the powder in 12 ounces of water 2 teaspoons twice daily. Flushing you system with water is very important since psyllium absorbs all the water in your colon and binds it all together so it's easy to move out all waste without any straining by you. It's really asssits with constipation and mild diarrhea. Once your start on it your going to be regular and you will notice it cleans everything out and your going to feel much better down below including your stomach area.

Is psyllium better than Metamucil? Any differences in them?

Same product. I am in USA and do take the Metamucil. Also, there are other generic ones out there you can take also.

Thanks, for right now I'm acute and on treatment and low fiber but when I do start that METAMUCIL does the first time taking it cramp you silly and blown up your stomach with gas? Also how long after you all was off your antibiotics did you start the husky stuff?  I cannot believe I was at Gastro and I asked for pamphlets or information diverticulitis and they had none !  They had other pamphlets and stomach issues of the colon  but not diverticulitis . Is it okay will on soft fiber and antibiotic to drank Orange juice?

Crosado8 you have some great questions. I would suggest you look up psyllium on internet and read up on it and benefits. It's a product that will keep you regular and should not blow up your tummy. It actually a product that stops gas down below. The jury is still out on whether you should take it will you have a flare up. My last flare up was six years ago and I stayed on psyllium while I was in pain. For me I did follow a lighter food plan as suggested by Dr but I felt the psyllium would keep the colon cleaned out so the divertic area could heal much faster. The psyllium pushes out all poop In very quick and short time frame leaving the colon clean so the infected area could heal. That's my take on it and it worked for me.

Dear Mrsl, psyllium is used to treat constipation and increase the bulk in your stool, an effect that helps to cause movement of the intestines. In addition, it increases the amount of water in the stool, making your stool much softer and easy to pass. Lastly, psyllium does work like a one type bulk forming laxative. Hope this helps you feel comfortable knowing that it can assist you and that's why most Dr recommend it.
