Physio, worse pain than before

Hey guys.

So a bit of back story for those who have not followed my previous threads.

Two years ago or so I rolled over my left ankle, turned out I had an avulsion fracture of the Lateral Malleolus. I was put in a boot for 6 weeks with no follow up physio, exercise and just came out of the boot when it felt right.

Ever since I have had stiffness, constant aching and pain (on a scale of 1-10 probably always at a 3 or a 4, sometimes spiking to a 7 or 8 when really bad) and had a limp.  I stuck it out for two years because I didn't think there was anything to done and had quite a sedentary life style, but as of three months ago since I was walking more I had enough.

I got an x-ray done which showed the initial fracture healing though she did say ''I am not sure if the bone is aligned properly or not'' and referred me to physio. Physio seemed to think the ligaments was fine and practically seemed to ignore my symptoms and seemed to think I would be fine after THREE WEEKS of 1 legged exercises.

Well, my actual leg feels stronger for sure, but my ankle still hurts the same if not even more. I go back in a week and they have advised if physio doesn't work they will look at doing an MRI scan / going to see an ankle specialist.  I am worried that surgery may be on the books, I cant afford to take time off work currently and would likely lose my job if I was off that long.

See if you can find a therapist who specializes in “strain and counterstrain physical therapy”...this may provide some relief from the pain as it has worked wonders for me.

I think you should do CT scan. Maybe you would wear a cast more than 6 weeks until the bone heal. If you are limping when you walk this not good and seems you ankle hasn't fully healed yet. Have a rest and do CT. I also broke my talus bone. You know talus fracture is worse than lateral malleolus. I should be 12 weeks in a cast. So thats 8th week. See your doctor or go to another one. Gather ideas because every doctor may diagnose differently.
