i have had previous IGG test positive for HSV1 and have had cold sores long ago in the past.
This is the first time i could have had symptoms on penis.
exposure could have been with new parter, receiving oral only, 8 days before first picture taken on day 1.
day 3 is when i got VALTREX and had pcr test. pcr test came back negative for hsv1 and hsv2.
i had another igg test on day 4 which still only
showed hsv1.
the sores didnt itch much at all. i didnt have any other symptoms. no oozing or sacks.
here are my questions:
could this be new hsv1 on my penis?
how likely is it that this is hsv2 on my penis from oral only? i dont have hiv or compromised immune system.
if this is herpes, why did my pcr results come back negative? i thought that test was pretty accurate.
day 11 is today. is there anything i can do to prove one way or the other that this is genital herpes and what type? should i get another pcr?

if u already have hsv1 on the mouth u dont get it on other areas such as the genitals u cant get hsv2 from having oral sex on the genitals as its spread by skin to skin contact

it may not even be herpes and might just be balantitis

most likley if you are still concerned u have herpes 16 weeks post exposure would be the best time to have a blood test as it can take a while for antibodies to build up

This is not entirely true. You can be a carrier of HSV1 oral and still get it genitally, but chances are lower (not impossible though).

ye he said he already has hsv1 so he wont get it on the genitals

Once you have herpes at one site, it is rare to then get the same type at another site. This is because your body develops antibodies which prevent this from happening.

I simply said it lowers the chance, but it can still happen.
Ive met a few people who have HSV1 genitally and orally.

It doesn't look like a typical HSV outbreak, however it doesnt mean it isnt. It could also be something completely unrelated.
At this point the sores would be too old for a swab, so you can go for a 10 panel with an IGM test, which will tell you whether youve aquired HSV2 (because it can be carried and passed orally), or any other STD. If negative, retest using IGG in about 4 months.
If you get another incident like this, go get it swabbed within 24 hours!
Nothing else you can do for now. If it is HSV1, you wont know by blood test since you carry it orally, only way would be a swab when fresh sores appear.

the one thing i dont understand is the pcr test results. those are supposed to be accurate. but are they accurate with a new exposure? ive been reading a lot of conflicting information about them.
another thing is that my sores didnt itch or bother me physically. i didnt mess with them.
they are still just pretty red on day 12 and i wish they would go away.
you said they dont look like typical hsv outbreak... can you elaborate on that?
thanks
