Pilates

I have had FMS with increasing severity over most of my adult life.

I eventually had to retire from a career I loved at 53 because I just couldn't cope any longer. In addition to all the other losses in fibro this was a huge loss. I cannot take medications as I am very intolerant to almost anything!

2 years ago I took up pilates and although it is frequently a struggle to get there and keep going it has made an enormous difference to my pain levels and my life.

My teachers know about the fibro (and my arthritis) and are solicitous.

Please give it a try! It's not a cure of course and I still struggle and have very low days but it has been of huge benefit physically and emtionally.

Hi Kaz, you need to start very gently with someone who knows(I won't say understands) your issues, it will be hard but persevere if you can. I hope you find a class and it helps, even if a little. Not a good day for me but I have pilates tomorrow, I will feel better. Hope you are having a good day, be gentle with yourself. smile

    Hi Jane

I took up yoga a couple of years ago and enjoyed it.  Kept it up for 18mths but had to give it up as pains were so severe.  Hoping to start back up again soon.

Well done for staying with pilates.  Keep it up and encourage us all to give it a try.

    Gentle hugs wink xx

      Hi Bee

I found that I couldn't do yoga because the poses were too hard/painful to hold but pilates is more about constant gentle movement and not holding; works much better for me. Some days more than others as you can imagine lol.

gentle hugs and wishes for a good day

Take care and gentle hugs to you. wink xx
