I have had them for many many years. They are treatable with good diet and creams, suppositories etc. My husband had his operated on and to be honest just made the situation worse. But maybe thats not everyones experience. Painful but manageable once you have them under control.

Thank you for your reply, so no haemorrhoids heal thy self then? Can severe stress cause them or does it just exacerbate them?

Hemorrhoids may be temporary or permanent depending on the severity and type too. Even after treating it with natural remedies or surgical methods, there's still a chance that it can happen again. The best way to manage it is to prevent it from happening. Severe stress may affect it but only if you let it affect your diet.

Mild cases of hemorrhoids can be managed using conservative methods and when properly dealt with, individuals can free themselves from this condition for life.

Hemorrhoids conditions that are exacerbated by obesity may disappear when normal body weight is achieved through proper diet and regular exercises. Diet-related hemorrhoids problems can be easily dealt with through proper hydration and increased fiber intake.

This site helped answer my questions about this. Hope it will help you too.
