U can search for post op images but be warned they are not for the squeamish and you might frighten yourself far more than is necessary as every case is different, and different consultants use different procedures, it also depends how high or low the abcess is in the natal cleft. I hope it goes well.

The best method seems to be to let it heal from the bottom up, which it sounds like you are going to have. Makes me sick that young people are effected. You'll have to lay of the footy for about a month after.

    All the best

I had Pilonidal Sinus about 20 years ago (in my early 20s) it was very painful and I was admitted to hospital as an emergency. However, the surgeon removed the PNS and a small radius around the affected area and it was left open to heal. The district nurse visited for a few weeks and dressed the wound daily. Amazing how the body heals itself....... 20 years later (touch wood) it has never reoccurred - I have a scar in the area, but (let's face it) only I know it's there wink I was back to work within 4 weeks. One word of advice - don't look at the wound, not nice! But it did heal very very quickly and the pain relief was amazing. The best bit is it's never returned since. Hope this helps! Good luck.
