Pilon fracture of the tibia

Anyone have experience with a "Pilon fracture of the tibia"?

My son had a motorcycle accident about 10 weeks ago...pins, screws, plate etc. He hasn't been able to put much weight on his affected leg except for maybe 30 minutes at a time. Physical therapy exercises at home, elevation and rest are not helping.

honestly I had same fracture to both bones in left leg. I am 2 1/2 years later and am getting a large push from all doctors to have my hardware removed. They said wait 2 years for full recovery I didnt want to but I did. It has always been swollen, limping, unable to get full function back nerve damage to top of foot, cant apply pressure to heel, and painful. Well a month ago I spent a week in hospital with cellulitis in my injured ankle from the hardware. That only now they can be sure my body is rejecting the 3 plates and 14 screws. Ice and heat literally hot water 15 minutes to an ice bucket and back and forth as much as u can and shock it. It was the only thing that helped me in the beginning. I also take two vitamins dhea, and hydroglycerin/collagen for joints. My brother in law also reminded me gravity rules over everything so at end of the day I would wrap my ankle in ice packs lay on floor scoot my butt to edge of wall and affix my legs in air so all old blood each day like gravity would be made to settle downwards allowing good blood to flow to my foot. hope this helps but just be very observant if it hurts and you are doing exactly what the dr says its imperative you follow directions, go back and find out why get xrays and scans honestly it's the only way u will know.
