Pilonidal Sinus???

Posted , 1 user is following.

Hello all, i had a baby 6 months ago by c-section and a month or so after having him i noticed a dent/dip at the top of my bum, its sometimes slighty uncomfortable to sit down but other than that i have no other symptoms. My mum and 2 of my aunties have both had pilonidals and have had them operated on. Does my problem sound the onset of one?? or anything to worry about?? im am so so scared of having to have it operated on due to the severity of the pain (so im told) and its quite an embarassing issue to go to the doctor with as its only a \"hairy mans\" problem so they say.....

Any information or advice would be most welcome

Its only a \"Mans\" problem as the only people who ever did much research were the US army as their soldiers got it alot, in fact it can affect man women and not all are on the bum.

Go to the doctors and have them check it.

Shave the area (Even if you have only light hair and keep it hair free)

Clean the area every day with PH balanced cleanser

If it has not come through it may never do but if you have any sensation or pain go and get anti bis from the doc as its worth nipping it in the but so to speak :-)

This sounds much more like \"spina bifida occulta\" to me. I'm speakijng as someone who has one of these dimples myself whi;le my son has chronic pilonidal disease. In my case it has never really given me any toruble except occassionally when I split the skin at the top of the dimple then it is as sore as heel for a dy or two. I had back X rays for anothejr problesm and they told me I had spina bifida occulta and the dimple was a sign of this. Maybe the two are related I don;t know only my daughter has spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Anyway I shouldn't panic too much unless it causes you grief, and knowing the healing probelms etc I certainly wouldn't advocate any pre-emptive attack. If it;s going to be a problem yu will know soon enough.

    Good luck
