Pinching feeling when urinating and spasms after UTI

7 months ago I was hit with a UTI. Since then I still experience a pinching feeling right before and right at the end of urinating, as well as random "zings" in the vagina and vaginal/bladder spasms. I was treated for BV after 2 rounds of antibiotics, as well as treated for a yeast infection. I have now taken 5 rounds of antibiotics. All labs come back clear for both now, as well as urine cultures come back negative (cultured 6 times).

I have been dealing with this for 6 months and it has taken a huge toll on me mentally. My anxiety is through the roof most days after reading online so many things that it could be, it has consumed me. I just do not understand how such a common thing such as a uti could flip my world around and how doctors cannot find an answer. I do not know if there is still something lingering from the UTI, bacterial vaginosis, my anxiety, or something worse such as interstacial cystitis?!?!

Has anyone had similar experiences after a uti and antibiotics? I feel so alone and desperate in this.

Yes. i had the same thing happen to me. i had back to back UTI and my BV was chronic. i ended up at a urogynocologist. i highly suggest you find one and have a full checkup. she was able to test me for everything...even mycoplasma. Final answer was that i was left with residual inflammation frim the multiple infections. i used DH aloe vera pills and zrytec for inflammation. i used dmannose three times daily to prevent UTIs. i also used vaginal boric acid capsules to manage bv. This all started due to hormone shifts from perimenopause. I havent been able to schedule it yet, but she also recommended pelvic floor therapy to help. good luck!

Thank you for the reply. It helps to know that I am not alone. I am so afraid to get another uti/infection and be on more antibiotics that my sex life is pretty much non existant, I feel awful for my husband.

Have you had relief since implementating these? I did 2 rounds of antibiotics for the BV, and no longer have the smell or discharge. As well as my PH has finally came into the high normal range. Is it possible to still have BV without these symptoms? I have often wondered whether it ever went away and still contributing to my problems. I am going to research and see if I can find a urogynocologist near me.

I have tried boric acid for about 12 days. it did seem to help while taking it. Do you take this long term?

I am so sorry that you are dealing with this as well. It is so frustrating and causes so much anxiety. I am eagerly trying to find out what is wrong. If you find any answers please let me know.

Cam: sorry for late reply as i was in process of moving. At this point i am using boric acid once a week and then three to five days after my period which seems to keep it under control. How do you test your Ph? I truly believe its hormonal and bv is triggered by my period now that i am in perimenpause. Has anyone used silver nitrate? i saw my specialist used silver nitrate to help cure his patients with bacterial vaginosis. my appointment with the specialist isn't for another month.
