I was identified with chronic pancreatitis with a resection of the tail last May of 2014.  Since the pain has progressed and energy has diminished.  I've had several blood, MRCP and Cat scans that identify new cysts within the existing head and extending off of the resected area. The surgeon who did the resection keeps telling me to go to a G.I. (gastroenterologist) for IBS.  I did so - and now the GI referred me back to the surgeon after finding the new cysts on an MRI.  So now - my pancreas surgeon is recommending I go back to my GI OR have a motility test.  Anyone have a clue what this test is for?  It's beginning to feel that the U.S. healthcare process is all about ordering tests and not really addressing the issue or providing a solution or prognosis.  Anyone else?

It does feel sometimes that because 70% of the people with CP were alcoholics. That they sometimes want to just sweep this under the rug. I did drink some but I got CP in my mid 20's I am 40 now. They really hven't offered me to mmany solutions. They are talking about total pantectomy with isolet sugery... but I have been through so many already I want another option. My heart goes out to you sounds like you have been going through an aweful lot. sometimes DR.'s forget we are people it seems like the few that told me to give up that there was no help for me. I keep my head up smile through the pain and tears and try to make the best of a bad situation. I sincerely hope the worst is behind you and brighter days are a head!

i may be wrong but i dont think the departments speak to each other.

i know all the history is up on the screen but i doubt they thoroughly study it.

motility test is to see what length of time it takes from eating to coming out the other end.
