i had   my pip appeal and it was awful i know it was bad and now the letter has arrived and i can,t open it. i know they have turn me down and just can,t bear it. i suffer with depression and social anxiety. it seems silly but i just keep looking at the envelope and feel afraid to open. i just keep remembering the interview, though it felt like an intergation, it like your lying and there try to catch you out, it a horrible horrible process i just would like to know how other people coped with there rejections

Hi Jade, I went through this with the ESA. My experience with ATOS was completely dreadful - like you said, you are made to feel like a liar and it feels like an interrogation. The whole process made me feel extremely su*cidal. Maybe I got lucky with the person who did my PIP interview because my experience with them was very different. It took me three attempts to get the ESA, including a tribunal.

I know it's utterly terrifying not knowing what is in the envelope. I think, if you can, open it with a family member or friend present. If it's bad news then get straight on the phone to welfare, or citizens advice and make an appointment. Or someone could phone for you. I filled in the application myself the first two times, which was a mistake. If you need to appeal then you really have to get a 'professional' to fill it in for you. They know exactly what to put to give you the best chance.

Hopefully it will be good news though. But please don't think all is lost if it's not.

    Good luck!!

Hi Jade, yes definitely open it with him there. And in case it's not what you want to hear, then make a definite plan beforehand about who you will contact first thing on Monday morning. If you are proactive about appealing or re-applying it will honestly help make you feel better, as you will be taking back some control. I really do hope it's good news though!

They're swines to put it politely. What is it awarded for and can you appeal?

Hi jade once you open on here with people who understand just how rotten esa claims are we can help you to cope with it! Also once it is opened you don't need to do it again. You can appeal, they are horrible though these wallies must leave in a different planet as do others like those in the job centre. Not nice for you but don't put off doing it it could make you more and more ill. Good luck with fighting their decision, they don't understand you properly.

Hi I get this as I am exactly the same as you.  I also have a general problem with opening my post and leave it for ages.  This mainly applies to bills and bank statements.  I have got enough  money not to worry about bills or if I am overdrawn etc. but if it's bad new it ruins my whole day,  week etc.  It can also send me on a downward spiral.

One day a close friend got so annoyed with me she started opening my post so I did too and there was nothing there to worry about.  I hope it's good news x
