Today i got my decision , it wasnt good.
I got dla 10 years ago for life due to my severe arthritus
today my genetic illness as either cleared up , or the fact i got nothing at all is wrong
In the decision it was noted i was well kept WHATS ALL THAT ABOUT??
should i have egg on a vest and stains on my crotch, is this what disability looks like.
The young girl who was a " TRAINED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL" was no more than a clerk , my examination was sat on a chair LIFT YOUR ARMS , LIFT YOUR LEGS no bending ,no touching infact no examination just questions you have already answered in your app.
It was said, i attended on my own, my son took me and was advised to stop in the waiting area ,inconsistancy is too gooder description for this debacle in one sweep they have devalued my illness and will cause me great stress ,its all a waste of time, money and peoples time Jimbo

Ask for a MR, but remember DLA and PIP are based on a different criteria, it's not your condition it's how it affects you, could you lift your arms / legs? What was your DLA for ? Care or mobility or both? Did you meet the descriptors for PIP if so ask for a reconsideration.

Sorry for your decision....i too have severe arthritis in my hips knees and wrists and I was awarded it but I am appealing the mobility part of it...ive since received the report from the assessor and although I was awarded it the discrepancies in his report are ridiculous...mine did say I was well kept and presentable too I think that just means your not unkempt....you need to appeal asap because this disease is awful and I'm only 44 and I'm lucky I work for the NHS but I answer the phone instead of nursing...but my whole life is affected...hope you get good news soon please don't give up x

Hi Jim.
I'm so sorry to hear this and all the stress it is causing you.
I am quite new here so there will be replys from people who can offer you much more than I can but as far as I'm aware there is an appeals process you can try next.
Please take it one day at a time, stress makes everything worse I think and thats the last thing you need with pain.
Take care

Hello Jimbo,
I either read or heard somewhere that these assessors get paid a bonus for every claimant who gets turned down. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it does make you wonder. It's amazing isn't it how you are miraculously cured overnight after talking to someone for a short time.
If you haven't already done so, phone and ask for a copy of the assessors report. This will give you something to work on whilst compiling your MR. Reading on the CAB website this is what it says 'The latest government statistics show that more than half of PIP decisions are changed after mandatory reconsideration or an appeal to a tribunal, so do challenge the decision if you think it’s wrong. It won’t cost you anything to appeal'
The best way to apply for an MR is to write a letter to the DWP explaining why you disagree with the decision. This I believe has to be done within 28 days. If you prefer to ring them, follow it up in writing. Lots of advice on the CAB website or on the Benefits and Works website.
Don't let the B's get you down. x
