That is difficult. A doctors report carries a lot of weight as I found out. There was a small charge of £10 but my first assessment failed and my second with a doctors report passed. They might call me a liar but daren't call a doctor a liar. If possible he should get to his GPs today for a report.

Just to say they sometimes do call doctors liars, as they did with my cousins and still turned hers down even with the doctors report. although the case is stronger with doctors reports and hospital reports.

Oh yes they do! I was told once that the DWP assessors are trained in disability health care unlike GP's and consultants who only come up with a diagnosis and treat it with either surgery or medication. Only a disability healthcare professional can assess how someone's life is impacted because of their health.

In 14 face to face assessments all of the medical evidence that I presented each time was treated exactly what it was - medical evidence and nothing more.

From experience I found its not all about what the ailments are but how they affect every day life. Doctors/carers etc reports are worth getting but in my case they were ignored. As you may read on this forum there is a lack of consistency with the health care professionals. I wish you all the best and hope you get a positive outcome.

I got questioned extensively on what aids I use to get about. I also gave details of ongoing work to install double handrails to make it easier for me to get up stairs and a rail that I can grab to get on and off the carzy as well as handles on the bath to get in and out. It all counts for mobility so don't forget any of them.

He used to go to Camhs until he was 18 the change over didn't go to well he is on meds has been for about 9years he rearly leaves his bedroom so it's impossible to get him to a doctor, I gave pip permission to use any evidence in his Dla forms , my doctor knows what my son is like and we have tried so many times to get him to a doctor, he only had 1and half year of secondary schooling so they will see all this and I can only hope for the best , x he can't cook for himself never enters a kitchen for fear of contamination, and showers anything up to 5/6 times a day his hands are red raw from constant washing , just hope that the person will see for themselves how bad he is 😬

Just had a phone call today cancelling pip assement on Monday as person doing it is sick 😬 Have to wait for another appointment

    • Posted

Oh so funny how do they know they'll be sick Monday ? You mean they are claiming to be sick ..really they want to know what sick is living with a chronic illness not a stupid cold

    • Posted

Try pulling that one with the assessor/DWP. You are only allowed one change of appointment. If you have already done that and you find that you are sick and will still be sick on the day of the revised appointment and don't attend - your claim will be cancelled and sent back to the DWP.

Seems that the DWP/Assessors have a monopoly in cancelling appointments with no regard to the claimant and with no sanction being applied to them.

Much the same as the claimant has 30 days to submit documents/information requested by the DWP. Failure will result in the claim being suspended/cancelled.

The DWP can take as long as they want and even breech disclosure time limits made by a court - citing too much work and too little staff to do it and get away with it.
