PIP INTERVIEW

Hi

i have been on higher rate DLA for mobility and lower rate for care since 2004 as I have genetic osteo arthritis and have had a knee rep;acement in 2010 plus several operations on my knee before that. It was not a success i still have a lot of pain in that leg. the surgeon sais I left having the operation to long. however I also have a very bad bony lump under my right foot which causes me constant pain and hurts very much when I stand i also have hammer toes which rub constantly on shoes .i also have a L4 and L5 compression of my back discs chich cause me constant pain and extreme stabbing and shooting pains in my right leg. I have had an MRI a year ago and am booked in for another one on March 3 this year. I hasve had 2 root nerve block injections  over the last year and now no longer work. i am now being reffered to Surgeon to see if an operation might help. However in 2015 I was also diagnosed with fibromyralgia. I filled in the application form as best as possible with the help of a charity that specialises in this kind of thing. Now I have been called for an interview as they say they are not taking in the previous claim which was based on my osteo arthritis, this I dont understand how can they do this.  I went to the pain clinic today and whilst there spoke to another lady who has been totally refused. I am sick with worry as I have a mobility car. I do not drive my husband is my carer and my driver. I cannot get out and about at all without him. My balance is very poor and I fall very often. I recentley fell and really damaged my so called good knee so am going to physio for it but i have osteo in my wrist hands and kneck as well . I can no longer do my household chores or cook my hubby does it all. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me before I go as I believe they try to trick you.

please help.

also if you fail do they stop your DLA straight away and take your car as well.

i am worried about the interview and am asking for help or advice from anyone who has been though it. Yes i am afraid of losing the car as we live on top of a large hill and as I cant walk without pain and our neares t bus stop is about 1 mile away i would never get out. also I suffer with anxiety panic attacks and depression as well as agorofobia so only go out with my hubby in the cat which i sit in and watch the sea or whereever he takes me to look for a bit of beauty i the  world.

This PIP interview is worring me to death i am not sleeping and am having constant anxiety feelings.

Sound very romantic.if you have a disability and evidence you should be alright and you will continue to watch the sea and the beauty of this word ,don't get me wrong some ppl can even go out from the flat , enjoy when you can . The best one to advise you about a mobility car is les59996 he's the dictionary of benefits and claims .take care

Hi verity, i have just been through the whole pip thing myself, i was refused at first as i didn't supply the right evidence, but after speaking to a welfare rights officer i put in for a mandatory reconsideration and the decision was overturned and i was granted pip. I would strongly advise speaking to a welfare rights officer.

As for the pip assessors themselves, just remember they are not your friend no matter how friendly they come accross at the time, they WILL try and catch you out and they WILL use the smallest of things against you for example, i suffer from anxiety and was very nervous and when i'm nervous i talk or babble on, so in her report she said i was very chatty and showed no signs of anxiety..I stoked my cat show she said i was completely able bodied. it's things like that they use against you, so while your nervous about the questions they're going to ask and not thinking about the small things, they are looking out for the smallest thing to use against you.

Also make sure you answer all questions asked based on your worst of day's, don't offer any iformation they haven't asked for unless it's to make them understand more about it. include ALL the evidence you can find even if they say your old claim won't count, that's rubbish, you still suffer from it so it DOES count. use everything you have, report,s appointment letters, written reports from consultants anything and everything. make sure you use their language, to qualify you must be able to do all those things reliably, repeatedly and in a reasonable amount of time.. so if you can walk 20 meters to the corner shop and back but wouldn't be able to do it again then you can't do it reliably, repeatedly or in a reasonable amount of time, so every question they ask wether face to face or on a form just think on my worst day can i do this activity RELIABLY,REPEATEDLY AND IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.

i hope you get through it and get the right outcome.

    take care.

Good advice Gill, I've just been through it myself Verity, also if you can get a letter from your doctor to say about your condition it would be helpful. I suffer with anxiety and depression as well as firbo and osteoarthritis, and just my anxiety makes it sometimes impossible to go out, I told the lady this but because I met and held her eyes when I talked she said I could interact fine.

As it turned out I had enough points anyway to get PIP so it didn't matter, but just be like its your worst day.

I hope it goes well for you

      hugs

Thank you so much going to doc tomoz. It seems so wrong that these people are allowed to do this. How can they disregard previous evidence which they have on file.

I am so stressed and anxious.

      Thanks x

      hiya

well its al done now was in the interview for around 2 hrs. Have no idea how I did. Asked a lot of questions but I was armed with a very good letter from my doctor just hope it works.. Came home physically and mentally shattered. went straight to bed. Now its a waiting game. It seems so wrong to put people thru all this especially when they were given their awards for life. I am sure it must be an infringment of human rights or something. Seems so unfair.

Thanks for all the advice I found it very helpful .

Hi I'd like to send you a private message, is that okay?

    High verity:

I am always notified of various posts even if not directed personally to me.  I wish I could answer everybody but most impossible unless you have a staff doing so.  Then you have a business type of atmosphere.  Of course if you don't pay anyone from doing this, I doubt they would do it unless it was volunteer work. Still someone has to give them the computers to do so.  Fortunately, here we have many people who want to help others in some way.  Of course, the staff would be paid here as this is still a business of sorts.  You still have to run this forum and there is expense involved.  I don't know what DLA means and maybe you can explain it to me.  It might similar to what we have in the States.  Yes, we have to also rely on insurance companies and sometimes they don't even want to pay their share.  Certain procedures I could qualify for but these insurance companies think it is still in an experimental stage even if the FDA approves it and indeed it is then not experimental.  They will pay for any surgery though, again that is their share.  As you know surgeries are expensive here.  In your country, you have a different type of medicine plan.  I don't know how it really works and if it is fair.  Over time, what you have and I as well, these conditions somehow get worse and more assistance is required.f  Whether you qualify for a mobile scooter or some other device remains upon the system that y ou have.  Here, if you have supplement insurance over and beyond your required insurance, you can be eligible for more things to make your life easier.  Most of the elderly  people such as I mainly have a medicare advantage plan which is complicated.  It means making some premium payment if need be depending upon the plan, co-pays to doctorsand various extensive tests, drug coverage, not going out of the medical jurisdiction unless you pay for all of it, select hospitals, devices like SCS and other things.  If you are on straight medicare, hospitalization pre-pay costs are involved which you have so many days before you have 100% coverage and if you add supplement insurance which is costly, then you have a much better plan which takes care of everything and depends upon on what plan you have.  These medicare plans are so complicated, that you have to study them carefully.  "There is a book here called Medicare for Dummies".  I have that book but didn't read it yet.  Through the O'bama care which you problably heard of is that everyone has to get insurance all else pay the penalties.  Personally, I don't like it and not everybody does.

so, all I can say iis don't fall and if you feel that you will, break the fall by holding on to something so you will have some control of the fall.  Take care and be well.
