Pityriasis: PLEASE HELP!!!

I was diagnosed with PR today... And I'm off to Thailand on Sunday with my boyfriend for 3 weeks! I first noticed the hearld patch on my hip 2 weeks ago but ignored it thinking it was nothing. Then more spots starting appearing across my torso 2 days ago. I went to the doctor in fear it was shingles and I wouldn't be able to travel and he diagnosed me with PR and said there was very little I could do about it.

I have only 6 or 7 spots in total and they're only about 1cm each in size. Can any one tell me if it started off like this for them and how quickly does it escalate? And how the hell do I get rid of it ASAP? This is my first holiday in 3 years and I don't want PS to ruin it sad

The bad news is there is no cure despite what you may read. There are however some things you can do to help. Do not wash with hot water this will make the rash much worse, use only cold. For me zinc tablets and tea tree cream helped, the cream stops the itching. The one bit of good is that exposing the rash to sunlight helps a lot and can reduce the rash dramatically. You can also try sudocream which is a zinc cream. Good luck. Chris.

Oh forgot to say for most people the rash seems to last 10-12 weeks. Chris.

Unfortunately it's the beginning and it get worse before it gets better sad I have had PR twice back to back this year.  The first round lastest longer than the second time.  What I did the second time was use head and shoulders to shower with and really lathered up so skin can absorb it.  Luke warm showers only.... Cold ones are not necessary.... Who really can stand a cold shower!? After shower I lathered up on palmers cocoa butter formula.  Sunlight def helps but make sure to do this when spots are still red as when they start to heal the rays can turn them into scars.  I used a tanning bed in the beginning just to get them all zapped. For tanning bed I went like 5x in like 3 wks for 6 mins.... Do not use any indoor tanning lotions! Use the tanning bed with nothing.  The head and shoulders and tanning will make the spots itchy afterwards but this normal I found.... After about 2 weeks the PR seems to subside and get better I promise! Unfortunately your PR has just started so you will have to deal with it on your trip but these things get rid of it faster than just leaving it to run it's course.  I've tried some of the things other people have tried on here like using Epsom salts.... Did not wrk for me.  And just so you know more spots appear during the first 2 wks from the first ones sad try not to stress as this can make it worse drink lots of water, eat clean healthy foods and exercise!  Remember that this is a benign skin condition and it's nothing serious, this helped me deal the second time around a lot better! Oh and when you get spots on your legs they take so much longer to go away than the others sad from what I read this seems to be a trend for most people sad
