pizotifen on and off

i take pizotifen on a regular basis. my doc advised taking for 6 months then 6 month break. i have gained approx 3 stone and am migrane free. i sleep well when taking the tablets and am groggy most days, thank heavens its not just me thought i was a wimp or just going mad, i have a disabled husband a teenager and 2 small children and find it difficult to keep it together when on tabs. i do however think that aside from the tiredness, weight gain and lack of motivation that i would not be able to function on any level due to the severity of the migranes i get. so i push through, i would be happy to hear of any other alternatives to pizotifen

I have only been on the tablets for about 2 months, but I have already gained about 8 pounds. I think I really need to start to excersize more and watch my food intake. The weight gain is very scary. I also feel very drained and lathargic. But agree with you, tht it is better than constant migrain attacks.
it is such a shame that this board isn't used more.

FeverFew didn't work for me. It's from the asprin family so be cafeful not to take too much or alongside certain pain killers.
I have tried the beta blockers, which played with my BP and was really horrid. They were prescribed to my by neurologist. (If you haven't seen one yet, insist you do)
I would rather be sleepy which I am than have the daily migraines as I was having previously. You need to weigh up the pros and cons really. You will find an alternative that works.
One big hot strong coffee if you feel one coming along can stop it, caffine is great! Solpadine plus, is bloody brill and co-drydramol really helps to take the edge off. I also have [[b:a1a3e9b0e1]b]Maxalt (rizatriptan[/b:a1a3e9b0e1])[/b] they dissolve in your mouth, if taken early can stop it all together.
I'm currently headache'y or twingie most of the time, that feeling I might get one, but usually one maybe two a week, which is sooooo much better than it was. Luckily they tend to happen when I get home from work or weekends, but work is really supportive and understand.
One of those beany heat up things are really good at helping fall asleep, holding my tounge up to the roof of my mouth helps...odd I know.
I tend not to drink much these days usually the thought alone would bring one on.
