PKR with ACL reconstruction

Posted , 3 users are following.

I had a PKR with ACL reconstruction 6 1/2 weeks ago. I got behind on rehab the first two weeks bec of narcotic intolerance and a bout of diverticulitis. I’m now back on track. PT 3 X wk. I’m worried, though. They say you are supposed to be able to extend fully by three weeks. I don’t have full extension yet, even though I’m diligent with exercises. Flexion is ok at 121°. Anybody out there with advice or similar situation?

I'm 10 weeks post PKR I'm still -10 with my extension. I'm having physio every 2 weeks and doing the exercises. She is confident it will get straight but just taking time. Zoe to see the consultant in a couple of weeks. Just keep up with the exercises.

My leg wasn't straight before the op was yours? Physio said this is why it's taking. longer. X

That makes me feel better. Yes, my knee was straight before surgery. I certainly understand why your knee is taking longer. Makes sense. We both gotta keep on plugging away!

Hang in there, everyone is different. If you are only 10 to15, talk to your rehab specialist. If you are 5 or less, just keep working it.

Went to PT today. Passive is 0° and active is -2°. I thought it was a lot worse.  She said it was ok. It’s the ACL that takes longer to rehab.  Thanks for your encouragement.

I don't know who "they" are but whoever, don't believe it. I was months with my first tkr, a little less with the 1st revision and came outvof surgery at 1 with my 3nd revision. We are all different and when people start comparing they aren't doing anyone a favor. Just keep doing the exercises and it will improve. Just be patient and listen to your body and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Scroll through here and find Chico Marx's formula for recovery. Great stuff. Stay with this group. Everyone has been through it and will kéep you on the right path and then you won't have to pay any attention to "they"

Thanks for the encouragement! Have learned that the hard way. You’re right. Everyone is different and their progression is different, also. Tried to look for ChicoMarx in search box. Found some comments but not many. Any suggestions?
