Plantar Faciitis

i have started a new job and because of the. Layout of my workstation I find I have to stand quite a lot, thus Plantar Faciitis has set in my left foot. I am one of the 5% of folk with very high arches in my feet. I do not know what to do, prior to this I had night cramps which were desperate I could pull the foot into position using the right foot. This may have caused the damage I don't know. These were happening up to six times a night. They have stopped now but the foot under the arch is painful. I have ordered arch pads, and a night support by Thermoskin. Not one of the long boots as I wouldn't sleep with the boot on. I suffer from arthritis and have a knee replacement to the right knee and now this my work is getting tenders regarding a new workstation. Blue Badge holder/worker any ideas and what are my rights

Babygirl, don't get me wrong but what in the world are you doing working on a job that has you standing on your feet after all the the knee surgery and now PF that you have??? My answer is simply I could never have stood at all on a job with my PF but everyone doesn't have true PF...which is usually in your heels and feels like you are walking on rocks. But you can have PF pain and issues from the tendons around it. Also really high arches and nerve issues sometimes get called PF too. Is it your heels or in your arches? You need to go to a caring Podiatrist who should do an MRI to really diagnose PF or something else. Sadly, many Dr's will diagnose without really testing. Either way.. while you work on being able to walk, I suggest you try to get a sit down job maybe behind a desk if possible bc standing definitely aggravates it. I can tell you this and that but only you know how bad yours is and you will have to decide how to proceed. I wish you the best....please keep us posted! Ladyjack51

By chance I saw a Naturopath about some chronic back pain and she recommended Tissue Salts and Magnesium. Back pain went away and so did the PF. What I suspect was happening was that I had a Magnesium deficiency and that was causing my muscles (including calf) to tighten when relaxed. For the first time in 6 years I have no PF pain.

Juse wanted to say a couple of things...in fact, being on your feet, being overweight, and especially standing on flat hard surfaces can absolutely cause PF in the heels. It's also true that different parts of the PF muscle can flare up and cause issues...such as in your calf area. I am very interested to hear about the lack of magnesium...that's the first time I've heard of that and what a great piece of information for all of us PF sufferers! Hopefully some folks can use that. Best of health to you and pain free days!Ladyjack51
