plantar faciitis....really painful

Hi all,

I started with a pain in the arch of my left foot last week. It gradually got worse & I was limping so I went to see my GP today. He diagnosed plantar faciitis & prescribed Naproxen & told me to rest.. I have no pain in my heal, its all in my arch & some in my ankle at the front. It hurts all the time, whether I'm resting or active. Walking makes it more painful though.

I am a fitness instructor, but I dont teach impact work....I teach spinning, bodypump & abs. I cant have time off work as I have just gone back after having breast cancer for which I still need more surgery.

How did anyone control the pain as its really painful. Is it possible to have plantar faciitis and just have arch and ankle pain?

Thanks guys x

I can only say that my pain was definately in the heel, inner heel, and not the arch or ankle. Ask for a second opinion. I wasted 2 years before I got my plantar fasciitis properly diagnosed and treated. Mine was so bad that I could no longer do my job working for the Police so took early retirement. Not what I wanted to do but I simply could not bear the pain any longer.

Thanks Glynis01, I have researched it & apparently it can cause pain just in the arch, however, I will get another opinion in a couple of weeks if its no better.

.All I know is, it really hurts & I'm limping.

    Hello

I had this condition the last five months of last year and had twice weekly ultrasound therapy at my local hospital , that was for a period of two months, it definately helped me but only been back full time at work for three weeks and the condition has flared up again

As the doctors would say they cant put time limit on it as the plantar is not quick to heal

Rest, pain killers and stretching exercises all aid the recovery

there seems to be different severities to the condition from few weeks til years

    Its certainly s frustating condition

take care all and stay optimistic
