Hi Jenny I had surgery on Tuesday, sadly this is no quick fix condition, I have had it for 3 years, many other things to try before you contemplate surgery as there are no guarantees all come with risks....its too early for me to say as Im only 4 days post op but I am hoping and praying as this is one painful condition, for which we suffer reduced mobility and the misery of excruitating pain....what have you tried since the problem was diagnosed to try and find relief. Good luck to you Kim

      I have done the following

      Insoles made especially for me

      Pain killers

      Ice throughout the day

      Creams

      Pads for my heal

      Various shoes

      Physio

      Steroid injection in each foot

      Various socks

Splint to wear through the night to stretch

      I think that's about it

It has been recommended to me to have surgery too. But I am saying no. I did physical therapy with ultra sound, massage on foot and calf, icing is also important plus Aleve helped for me. I have found that writing the alphabet with your. Foot and ankle, don't let your knee move, has really helped me and taping my foot. There are a lot of instructions  on the computer. I do the alphabet twice in the morning and two times a night. I also use a yellow band to stretch my foot. Good luck if you have surgery. I know a couple of my friends had it done and the pain is gone. My surgeon would cut a 2" incision in my calf and cut the muscle attched to the fasciitis. He saiid not to let a podiatrist cut into the planter fasciitis  muscle on my foot. Good luck
