    Hi Michael,

Have you thought of starting with just a little bit of mini golf to see how it goes.

Or maybe just do a bit of putting first. Driving off the tee might involve quite a bit of twisting.

I am not a golfer myself but I have been to the golf driving range with my daughter and it looks very physical to me.

    Take care o f yourself

Hello Michael - Not that I know much about golf, but don't you plant your feet and rotate around. Thats a BIG NO NO. I remember when i had my THR at about 10 days home I was standing beside my bed, and decided to adjust my pillow as I didn't like the way it looked, I had my feet planted square to the bed and rotated my torso to reach the pillow, its such a natural action that even though the hospital physio had warned me not to do it, and came very close to dis-locating. The PAIN was immense, I ended up on the bed face down howling in pain, husband and son ended up lifting me very gently further onto the bed between my howls of pain, turning me over to try and find what was going on. From what I can figure out the muscle spams pulled the joint back together, i discussed it with my GP and he said I was right, I had come very close to dis-locating and the pain is the price you pay for that. I never did it again. Maybe experiment a little at home to see if you can do the action you need for your golf before you end up in a foreign country, if you do come to grief at least you will be at home.  Please go very gently and build up to a full on swing, would hate to think you might hurt yourself.

Thanks Lyn that's why I wanted somebody who has done it,and I have been aware of this dislocation,my Physio said I don't want you to be frightened of your hip.but respect it,which I thought was good advice, thanks again Lyn and hope you keep well best wishes Michael.

Which hip was replaced? Big strain on pivoting hip.

Golfers often adapt their swing. Check with pro.

Beware of getting out of bunkers! Good luck

I have been dealing Poker for a few days, sat down, for a few hours at a time every 12...and now I am sore...on the tops of my legs, and can feel my implants again after not feling them, but it is still very soon, just a few months after my second...

I am being careful, not bending, and doing the golf pickup...6 weeks is not enought time...I am 5 months after my first...9 weeks between ops....just wait a lot longer for your own sakes, dont mess it up, please be more patient.  Ian.

      Hi Ian,

What is going on with you, big guy? Have you been overdoing it ? working too long hours ?

Maybe you can start a new thread and give us an update ..

In the meantime, take it easy - say Hi to Sandy and a

      big warm hug

Renee mentioned this re those of us who are double

hippies, with less than 12 months between ops.

Our first hip op isn't completely integrated, but we are

only considering our second hip's recovery. Standing also puts a

strain on your back as well. I know I go on about it, but balance

      exercises are still important.

I have just gone back driving, and having my right hip 6weeks ago

feel the muscles wakening up! By the way, does anyone else hate

the Clam exercise as much as me? I refuse to do it any more.

You do not hate it any more than meredface

I  had month of clam/ spam rubbish from a phyio who keptsayin g "We can fixthis. You just need to try harder" before a sugeon d eclared my hip needed an op.

I would like to take my xray of my new TotalHip Replacement and shove it down physio's throat!  (polite version)
