Please Assist- Has Anyone got Modic Changes in their Spine & tried Dr Hannah's antibiotic protocol (MAST)?

Posted , 69 users are following.

Hi there. I was wondering if people could help me please. I wanted to know if anyone sent their MRI scans of their lower back to the MAST centre to be assessed for modic changes? I have sent mine in June, and I started the antibiotics 5 weeks ago with no improvement yet. I have chronic back pain and also ankylosing spondylitis.

I would really like to chat with people out there that are also on this MAST- modic changes protocol and to see how its going.

This is my only hope now for my lower back pain.

Thanks

so im about 5 weeks into my antibiotics , i have started feeling less stiff in the morning and have noticed i can sit much longer. been taking probiotics as well. has anyone that has participated in this also have scoliosis as i do? i really doubted that this would have any effect on me i guess bc i had done so many things before that just didnt help. i guess that im seeing some benefit would mean that i do indeed have an infection and that this is working, right? otherwise it wouldnt do anything logically.

I don't know your situation. But maybe with the help of your doctor you could get some support for a helper for the work around / in the house paid by the health insurance. I had this after my c-section. I am living in middle EUROPE ; so I don't know your system and possibilities. You could also ask your doctor. Can you leave the home for a couple of weeks / months, maybe?

there is no way my health insurance would pay for that (i have medicaid which is government provided inaurance . my parents could easily take care of everything myself but they think im being lazy and my pain isnt as bad as it is. i cant work because of my pain other than sit down part time jobs which are scarce. im just going to keep taking it easy for a while and work within the limitations i know i have. also it normal to have extreme tightness in the muscles on the side of the affected vertabrae?

I had stage 3/4 to 4/4 in modic 1 and 2 ; mixed modic over 5 years terrible pain. I could not wait to have my live back and enjoy live again. I had no help during that long time. I had cramps in the muscles, everytime coming up. The cramps went over after 1 -2 months after the AB also this nasty sticky pain I felt coming from the softend bones. the stiffness is not so bad anymore. I have still pain coming from the nerves, but I am much better, but still fare from healed. HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

is there anyway to find someone in the US who will prescribe the MAST treatment. I am from Michigan.

i live in the united states but i live in Virginia. i didnt know anything about MAST until my doctor looked over my MRI and prescribed me. it seems to be a very uncommon treatmeant but my doctor says it helps about 80% of his patients. my doctor was not my general practicioner. You could always bring the info to your doctor and see if they will prescribe it to you.

i didnt give it to my doctor, my doctor gave it to me. the doctor diagnosed me though is considered a pain management/physical therapist. You could always ask your primary care doctor as well.

    Hi rosary

This message is really to everyone (i dont know how to use the site!)

I have type 1 modic changes and have managed, with great difficulty, to get a private prescription from sportswise in Eastbourne.

I have been taking Co Amoxiclav for the last 2 weeks and having no side effects except a bit of heart burn which i am taking omeprozole for.

I am very optimistic after reading this thread and everyone who has healed.

Any tips on how and when to take the antibiotics or how to exacerbate its effects would be very appreciated!

    Thanks

      Hi Ste88013

I am new to the forum and wondering how you got on with your treatment? I am just about to start the MAST process with Sportswise following three years of chronic low back pain. My symptoms would appear to match the requirements and so I am hopeful although realistic- reading the forum it would seem to work for some but not others. Any advice for those starting the protocol would be greatly appreciated.

      thank you

      iain
