Hi all
For 2 yeas now I've been lightheaded and it's driving me crazy. Touch wood I have never fainted but I feel close to it sometimes so much I abandon my trolley in the supermarket and just go home. It's really getting me down. Please see below some symproms I've had,I wouldn't wish these on anyone but I hope there's someone out there that can make me see there's light at the end of this dark dark tunnel:
Lightheaded and dizzy. Sometimes I have an ok week, other times I can't escape it
Headaches in the morning
Pain/tingling/crawling sensation/burning and numbness in legs and feet
Pain in hands and arms sometimes
Racing heart
Breathless or very laboured breathing
You should know I have had a brain scan, and many blood tests done too so not diabetic, coeliac etc
Any ideas?
Thanks guys and stay well x

Pots is caused by damage to your nervous system that can come from a virus.. (glandular fever main culprit) can also come from inoculations etc or accident injury that puts your body under a large amount of stress.
You need to buy a pulse oximeter these are cheap enough and easy to get a hold of. Relax in a chair foe about 10 mins then take a reading.. noting your heart rate.... then stand up and take your readings at one minute intervals ... if your pulse rises more than 30 beats from resting then thats a good indication of POTS... Its the only test that will show it ..does not show up in blood tests etc they are usually normal.
Also have you had blood tests for hormones etc as alot of the symptoms you mention are common in peri menopause ... even though you are very young for this (usually starts in early 40s) its worth ruling out.
If you do get a positive heart rate result then you need to go see your doctor..but trust me.. its a nightmare to get referals etc as POTS is still quite new and alot of doctors havent got a clue about it. There is a really good POTS group on facebook for help and support.
I have HYper Pots and ME/CFS and its been a long 28 year journey to get fully diagnosed. x

Hi thanks for the reply
I saw a cardiologist who assures me I don't have pots but is he even the right specialist for this.
I am menopausal now because of some treatment for fibroids but they were only found when I was being investigated for these feelings, so I know it's not that as it was happening before. I'm at my absolute wits end with it to be honest

But it does sound like peri menopause Ive been going through it for 4 years and have had all the symptoms you mention and a lot more. If they have diagnosed you with Peri menopause then you can ask for some type of hormone replacement .. Either the standard HRT or the Bio identical stuff that is available now.
Just rule out the pots first then you can move forward. Alot of women get good results with the HRT , and by the sounds of it your at your wits end so its worth a go.
