PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME ?

Hi I'm a 15 year old boy, a couple of days ago I went to the toilet and I noticed I had mucus on it not a lot just a bit. I still sometimes see it now.

My symptoms are

Constipation

Bit of diahrea in the morning

Lots of wind after a meal

Rumbles in my belly mainly after a meal. ( can last up to 10/13 minutes )

And minor cramp

I have told a parent and she said I have a poor diet I don't eat vegatables or fruit at all.

I have no past family history of anything serious there.

I just really need to ease my mind and stop stressing about it.

I don't know if it's IBS or IBD I've just seen the symptoms that I've been experiencing.

Thank you... please help!

    Hello,

I would google diets for stomach upsets or google low fodmap diet and follow that and see if your symptoms improve. Peppermint tea is also very good for after meals and for wind.

It could be IBS or, as your parents pointed out, due to a poor diet.

If you are having issues with constipation try increasing the amount of soluble fiber in your diet and ensure you are drinking plenty of water.

Lots of wind/rumbling can be due to gassy foods.

IBD is usually more severe so you would possibly have symptoms including blood in your stool, extreme pain, abscesses. fistulas, urgency, and many trips to the bathroom.

If you are still concerned, talk to your parents about discussing these issues with your doctor and go from there.

Thank you but why is there mucus there ? Is IBS life threatening ?

Mucus is not a dangerous symptom and is in no way harmful if it's only happened a few times increase fibre in diet and drink plenty fluids!

Thankyou Vicky I just thought it was really dangerous because it's not normal. Thankyou and I will do.

Could be IBS.  Try changing your diet to more fruit and vegetables.  Obviously, if you are getting diarrhoea, go easy on fruit.  Keep a food diary to see if anything is triggering symptoms.  Stay away from fizzy drinks and processed food.  If symptoms go on longer than a week, see your doctor.

I have changed my diet from yesterday I'm eating apples and grapes and having healthy drinks like orange or pineapple juice. Most symptoms have gone, still got a bit of diahrea but my mum said that will happen because I've changed my diet. But I got a shock before because I saw a couple of bright red dots on a stool. And now I'm getting worried again.

Please get back to me of someone.

If you have been eating any red vegetables like tomatoes, red onions, red peppers, tomato sauce or eating red grapes, this could be coming out in your stools if it is not being absorbed properly due to being unused to eating these foods. If you have eaten beetroot or red apples, this could also cause this.

Haemorrhoids or fissures could also be responsible for the red dots especially since you have had diarrhoea.  It can also happen with excess straining due to constipation.  So do not worry, it will make you feel worse; consider these simpler, non threatening explanations first.  You could always exclude any red vegetables for a while if you are eating them to see if the red dots go away.  If they do, then you will know what is causing it. If you are still worrying, see your doctor for advice.

Thankyou I haven't got it recently due to the fact I'm really constipated right now, I'm going to see a doctor about this. I think this may be IBS or something like that. Thankyou

With IBS some people have trouble digesting certain foods and they don't absorb properly.
