Please could someone kindly help me

Good evening,

I would be very grateful if someone could help me with my recent feelings.

At the end of September this year I was bed bound for around a week with what I believe to be a bad case of the flu. Ever since then I do not feel I have made a recovery and my symptoms reflect that of ME/CFS.

The last 12 months I have been through a divorce, change of job and on going relationship problems with my family, all which I believe haven't caused me any health issues but beginning to think different now.

After the first initial week of falling ill in September I have recovered for a week here and there only to fall ill again the week after. My symptoms include fatigue, dull muscle aches on my legs and feet, soar throat that comes and goes hour by hour, light chest pains and un-refreshing sleep. I also have vivid dreams.

I used to go to the gym 4 times a week but have felt extremely fatigued after going which hasn't been for a few months.

I also have found it very hard to concentrate at work and have recently been signed off for a month.

I have visited my GP a few times and was refereed to a specialist who diagnosed me with Post Viral Fatigue within only 30 minutes of meeting me which seemed a bit hasty. And charged me £200 for the pleasure.

During the last three months I had to go to hospital with gastroenteritis which the doctor put down to stress.

And this is what I am finding confusing. I do not know if this could be ME or is stress and anxiety related. My muscle aches are dull and do not cause me too much discomfort. I am able to cope throughout the day and look after my 4 year old daughter, however all is a struggle and I feel constantly tired - but not exhausted...

I self certified my self of work for 1 week earlier during the month and within that month made a good recovery and could actually managed to the gym and returned to work the following week. However, after 1 week back at work I picked up a cold and after one session at the gym, all the above feeling came back the next day with avengeance.

I do not feel stressed by my work environment and enjoy my job.

There has been ME in my family, but not immediate family but also stress has been in my family.

Last night I slept for 8 hours, woke with my daughter and looked after her all day, done some xmas shopping and will probably go to sleep around 11ish. But I ache and feel fatigued.

Is this the onset of mild ME or have I read to many stories on the web and convinced myself it is and this could all be stress related???

I have read stories with people who have serve ME and my symptoms do not reflect these (yet?) But I have very similar mild symptoms

Sorry to sound vague and would welcome any feedback.

Regards

It sound as if you have got M.E. Stress makes M.E. worse. I am suffering at the moment quite badly due to stress, brought on by my daughters wedding and all the sewing I did and the fact that the couple were staying with us for 6 and a half months. The wedding was on Sept 7th and they went back to France on Nov. 17th. My daughter and I had two fall outs as she did not undrestand M.E.and that fact that I need to know what is happening when so I can work out when I can rest and organise pacing myself.

I was on edge all the time which did not do me any good at all.

If I don't get my rest when I need it it is pay back time. I am in bed 14 hours a day on average, so when on holiday and Christmas I can't have proper rest so it take me a long time to recover from these events. I work in textiles and when in bed I do do some work

I hope this helps. I was diagnosed in 1992. Most friends and relations do not undertand what it is like for me so i just pretend I am O.K. but I don't think I am going to do that for much longer, I just don't have the energy.

Talking to people is very exhausting

    Regards Alison

Both of you are suffering so bad and my heart breaks for you as I have been there and it is not nice. Tommy it sounds like you could have ME but ME is a neurological condition and therefore mimics other neurological conditions so it's always good to rule the others out first (MS for example follows a similar pattern and Alison damn right you don't have the energy to pretend, it's a waste of the limited amount of energy you have. When I was struggling I soon learned I had to be selfish and totally relaxed too I was determined not to waste an ounce of energy!

Luckily I'm not in that place now thanks to following a plan that cuts all of the additives out of my life which had clogged my organs as I do now makes me appreciate more the place I was and the place that you both still are. Good luck to the both of you, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
