Question for all of you
When a person has diverticula bleeding does the bleeding happen with no warning or after a stool?
I was diagnosed with multiple diverticula pouches a few years ago. And I know I also have hemorrhoids, I am actually having them banded on the 25th.
But recently I had bleeding following a bowel movement, more so then my hemorrhoids usually do.
I called my doctor and she thought it was from the diverticulosis
Recently I have had discomfort on my lower left side and diarrhea once a week with stomach cramps
Any suggestions or advice

I was diagnised 4 yrs ago. First time low tummy pains and straining to pass a motion also passed bloody clot. Funnily enough my pain ceased once I had passed it. Since then I have had a few flare ups and though I pass bloody mucus not a clot like the first time. I did bear down hard that time as didn't have a clue I had diverticulitis. Was on holiday in Florida at the time so it was all a bit scary! Sounds like yours is related to the diverticulitis but I do know that IBS can cause similar symptoms. My GP said normally when you are young it's IBS and when your older diverticulitis. Good luck

Certainly sounds like your Diverticular Disease. The pain is in the normal place and the cramps/runs are commonplace. Did you strain to have your bowel movement? With my 1st attack I had absolutely no warning and freaked out when I saw the bleeding. I hit A&E within the hour, got sent back to my GP for a referral, and promptly got referred for a colonoscopy & barium enema. These confirmed the dreaded DD. Since then I have had flares with and without bleeding, although now I know from experience what has triggered the attack. Have you checked with your doctor that it still OK to go ahead with the banding? The prep is pretty fierce and I know that you can't have a colonoscopy when your DD is playing up. Otherwise, good luck in 25th. One cause of bleeding eliminated.

I have had four or five bad bleeds, with the last one being very bad, I couldnot stand up due to the blood loss (the doctor said I lost two units)
For the 1st time in my life I had to call an ambulance and resualted in two days in hospital, to be gived blood transfuson etc.
I get no other problems with my diverticular diseas.
So I am ok apart from random heavy bleeds.
I have now been given some Tranexamic Acid tablets, which should slow the bleeding down when it starts.
I hope thios helps.
