I’ve had very strong urine for a while now and a burning urethra occasionally more when I’m dehydrated I think and when I drink beer.

I’ve had every sti test and all is fine aparantly.

I’ve had a camera down my penis and in to my bladder once again apparently normal

The last few weeks I’ve been have a strange feeling in my bladder and sometimes when I go it’s sort of start stop like a blockage but not if that makes any sense.

I’ve had the finger prostate check and my doctor said it’s fine ??

Does any of this sound familiar with anyone and could it be my prostate ??

First of all Carl welcome.  What you need to do is make sure you drink a lot of water and juice.  Beer is not good for the bladder.  Going to the bathroom is going to burn when you are dehydrated.  Also what you are talking about the starting and stopping is sometime because you are not drinking enough to flush out the kidneys and the bladder  Have a good day  Ken

Yes. This happens to me. Especially when I drink beer which I seldom do now. Whiskey seems to better for some reason. Try some hot water with honey. That might help calm things down.

Carl,   When you say "strong urine" do you mean it has a bad smell, or is it a dark yellow color ?   If it has a bad smell and you have a burning urethra, it would indicate UTI, urinary track infection. You should get your urine checked for bacterial infection.  If it has a dark yellow color your not drinking enough water.  Stop drinking beer for a while, it is not good for urinary problems, especially for UTI.

If you have a bacterial infection your doctor should prescribe an antibiotic

You can also have non bacterial prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) caused by stress or other factors. If so anti-inflammatory drugs may help.

I’ve had loads of urine tests and no bacteria what so ever

It’s so consuming it just doesn’t feel rite down there at all.

But every test I have comes back fine

I try ural satches which relieve it a little what else could I try as I do drink a lot of water

Do they culture the urine or just do the dipstick test?  Not every bug shows up on the dipstick so you might have something that needs to be cultured.

They have done the culture one I think I’ve got an appointment Monday so will ask the doctor to send it away to get cultured

    I feel for you.

Prostate perhaps a strong possibility.  Ask your uro to treat you for prostatitis (as, in my experience, they don't always go that route unless you insist.  Prostatitis = Inflamed prostate.  A condition that can be precipitated by either bacteria -- or too much workout of the prostate.  (i.e. orgasms.)

Treatment I have had successfully:  sulfameth (brand name Bactrim) + 2 Advil nightly and Flomax.  The latter prescription comes with sexual side effects (diminished sex drvie + retrograde ejaculation) but the uro says it helps absorption of the Bactrim.  My symptoms were as yours are  -- with relief by only the second day.  Trick is to get it to last.  Prostatitis tends to return -- especially if your sexual apparatus is worked overtime.  The Flomax may at least  slow you down.

    Good luck.

    Hi Carl,

I had strong urine odour for several years; never any infection found. It sounds to me like your bladder is not fully emptying; maybe due to prostate pressing on the urethra and restricting flow. I had a urolift done a week ago and flow is strong again and the urine doesn't smell any more. I think it gets strong just from being 'stale' in the bladder for so long. Smell was something like rotting greens / smoked ham; very unpleasant.

Like you I also had a cystoscopy that apparently didn't show anything wrong. I had the finger test; small prostate; that doesn't prove anything as the prostate can grow inwards and compress the urethra as in my case

For me I am still waiting for reduced frequency and urgency from the urolift so the jury is still out on whether it is a success. But it definitely proved I had a prostate obstructing flow and that the smell had been due to retained urine; nothing more.

    (sorry last post got truncated)

Like you I also had a cystoscopy that apparently didn't show any problem. Also the finger test that indicated prostate was not enlarged. That doesn't mean that it isn't growing inwards and pressing on the urethra.

After the Urolift my flow is good and the smell has gone away so assume that the smell was nothing more than retained urine in the bladder. As I only had Urolift done 7 days ago, the jury is still out on whether it is a success or not. I have good flow BUT still pain from the operation, urgency and frequency. Hopefully these will settle.

my urine is always yellow too and darker in the morning did you have that too ??

also when i poo its a bit sore i dont know what to do

Yellow urine is normal. Darker urine in the morning is also normal, probably from dehydration, not drinking much overnight. Sore butt after pooping maybe from constipation. Hank

Get a bladder ultrasound and make sure they do a void test. i.e. you turn up with a full bladder; they scan; you go and pee; they scan. Then they can tell how much residual urine there is left in the bladder. In my case this year it was 240ml still in there. A couple of years back it was around 150ml I think; ideally should not be more than 50ml.
