PLEASE HELP! Does this look like herpes?

Hi,

In my doctor's opinion it does look like herpes. It started pimple like about a week ago after a sexual encounter 2 weeks prior.  Would appreciate some feedback

    Hey,

Personally, it does look like herpes to me. However, I think it’s in your best interest to get your doc to do a swab test! That’s the only way you’re going to know for sure.

If it’s not herpes - you will want to treat whatever it may be.

If it is herpes - you will want to treat it, and you’ll need to know for future sexual encounters!

    All the best

Hi danni, thanks for your reply. I did go to the doctor and did a bloodtest. It came back negative for hsv 1 and 2 igm and igg. But the test was only done 2 weeks after so will have to go back for another test. Doctor gave me a topical cream to use on it.

      Hey again,

I’m pretty sure if you’ve only recently gotten HSV, it won’t show up on a blood test, as your body is only just producing anti-bodies, hence why it’s important to have a swab test! They do that directly on the sore & send it away, and that will tell you if you’ve got it, and which one you’ve got (hsv-1 or hsv-2)

Only go back to the doctor if you’ve got a new sore or blister! That’s the best time to do a swab test - right at the start of an outbreak. Hope that helps smile

Unfortunately where i live they only do bloodtests and not swabs.

That looks identical to what i had going on. My doctor said it was herpes and gave me some pills to take. I took a swab test and now waiting for results. Please keep me informed.

So I got my results back today and everything was negative. But for some strange reason I really believe it's herpes

Sure will. At how much weeks did you take the test? Did the doc give any explanation for your outbreak if not herpes?

      Guys,

A swab test offers 100% accuracy, if it’s done at the correct time.

The ‘correct’ time to do it, is once a blister has formed (so they can take the fluid) or, right at the beginning stages.

If they’re not done at the ‘correct’ time, I think there is a chance of it being negative.

Maybe abstain from sexual contact even with condoms for a little while. A blood test isn’t always accurate if the virus is only new, so I mean, it can make it hard.

I hope for both your sakes it is negative, however, If positive this site is a good support system.

I thought I was ready to neck myself but, I have come to terms with it. Not 100%, but I’m dealing ok. It’s very common and because of some people having no symptoms, it can make it hard to know if you’ve got it - as you may never have symptoms again. But, I know once you’ve had the virus for longer than 3 months, it will show up positive on a blood (I’ve read that everywhere but I can’t be sure)

Best of luck to both smile

Hey didn't give me any explanation lol. He just said yeah that doesn't look good it's herpes. It's not that bad all you have to do is just take these pills. But I was with my current partner since November, we started having unprotected sex in December. I noticed the sores in late January early February. I did the swab test and it came back negative. I'm really concerned it's herpes. The only symptoms I had was a swollen lymph node in my groin and the lesions. No discharge no flu like symptoms No pain while urinating but I just know its herpes.

Grrr! My doctor was just as bad!! As soon as she said it, I burst out into tears, and she said, ‘at least it’s not chlamydia, it’s no big deal’, to which my response was, ‘at least chlamydia is curable’. Stupid wench!

It’s so common, and such a stigma attached to it, that it’s uncomfortable to be open about it. I understand it’s not the end of the world, but they could learn to be a bit more sympathetic! And to top it off, before I walked out the office, she said, “try having protected sex”, I’m 27, and got it from the 4th person I’ve ever slept with! I am so cautious! The problem was - he reckons he didn’t know he had it. And I can’t prove otherwise. I just know my test for iGg or whatever it is, indicates I got it from him.

If you’ve never had symptoms before, perhaps (if you haven’t already) tell your partner, so she can get tested! She may be able to have a blood test, if she’s the one who had it and passed it to you, and had it for a while with no symptoms it will show up in a blood test (3+ months of having it, it will show up in a blood test)

I personally had zero pain - no itching, no swollen lymph nodes, no painful urination. Just literally started with 1 pimple looking thing on my labia. So I’m glad it was nothing like google!

Either way, I’ll get your guys updates, so I’ll keep checking in ☺️

      And also, you’re welcome!
