i am taking escitalopram 10mg for 1.5 months now. it's working good but i have a bad restless tingling and agitation side effect and can't focus. my doctor wrote me venlafaxine 150mg. i took the first dose yesterday at night and slept horribly and now i am pretty dizzy and tired.

whaat do you think ? is this too much of a dose ?

i feel i am taking too much medications now that i don't really need.

I have tried a few meds, Lexapro/escitalopram has been the best fit. i take 5mg in the morning in conjunction with Wellbutrin. I do not have strong case of depression, it off label for nervous stomach/GI issues. i have never heard about this side effect. I would say either lower the dose or try another option.

Hi there. Have you only been on 10mg escitolapram for one a half months? For me personally (I've been on two different ssri's in the past) I found I always suffer side effects for the first 3 months, and again if I up a dose. It takes time for your body to adjust. It sounds like your initial side effects are just a natural reaction you have to battle through. I personally wouldn't be comfortable adding in a second drug so early into the process. But saying that I haven't heard of your second drug and haven't heard your docs reasoning for giving it to you, your doc should know that side effects are common when beginning any ssri for 8-12 weeks. Did your doc start you on 5mg and then up to 10 which is the more gentler way to do it. If you've been put straight onto 10mg, then that is a massive shock to your body. I'm sorry I cant be more help, but I totally understand how hard the process is, just be patient and gentle with yourself until everything stabalises. x
