Its called depersonalisation or derealisation, its very common with anxiety, and very unpleasant too. Once your anxiety is controlled, it will lessen

Yes its one of my worse and most persistent symptoms, it is dreadful I know. Therapy may help,I find it better than meds

Just as u described, its very common and hard not to focus on,which only makes it worse. Therapy can take a very long time, but it's the best way to put anxiety to rest, meds just can't do that unfortunately

    Hi Michaela

can an I ask how long you have been on this medication?

I only ask because I know in the early weeks of taking meds like Sertraline the side effects can be quite diverse and strong, I would imagine the propranolol is for the anxiety with tremors? I don't know when you last spoke to your GP but if you have not been recently I would strongly advise doing so and mentioning these symptoms

They are symptoms that coexist with anxiety, they are not rare symptoms at all, very very common. Meds can enhance anxiety symptoms initially, but they generally wouldn't cause additional symptoms

I agree jmcg2014, I only advised Michaela to mention the symptoms to her GP as in the initial part of her post she mentioned she had not had these feelings for a long time. After 2 months on SSRIs the side effects should have stabilised so if these symptoms are new then it's worth updating.

Hi Michaela, I feel just the same as you. I started seetraline 50mg 2 weeks ago so I know it can intensify it. Sometimes I feel like I don't know where I belong that everything feels like a film... Very unpleasant and have to try to snap out of it. I've been on citalopram before that for 13 years and had it then too. Usually get it when my anxiety is very bad. Atm it is and most probably because I changed med but it's awful and I know how u feel. It will get better it always does even if you don't feel like it now. X
