Please HELP! Feeling of sedation/numbness

Hello,
So I have been battle ling Anxiety pretty much this entire year. The beginning of the year was particularly hard. I have had a multitude of symptoms that have come and gone. However, some have been persistent and I'm quite scared or worried. So I have been feeling this numbing sensation that sometimes spreads through my entire body. I cant really explain it. It is not numbing like when your arm falls asleep which I also get. This is more like when you are being sedated, is like I feel numb but im not. For example, there are times when I can't feel my chest expand when I take a deep breath. Other times, I can't feel my bladder when I take a pee, like its just really weird. I have learned how to control my panic attacks which is a good thing but its still very scary and worry some when I feel like this which is almost daily. On top of that, I have difficulty taking deep breaths, im seriously getting tired of this. I have been to my DR multiple times this year, I even switch Drs. because I felt that my physician of 4 years was not taking my symptoms seriously. I have seen other drs in addition, I have been seen my Cardiologist, Pulmonary physicians, I have had Xrays, blood work you name it. All concludes to clean bill of health and all drs saying it's anxiety. How can this be? When I get the numbing sensation I sometimes feel like weak and like im floating, I sometimes feel like my arms are detached from my hands. it a really weird sensation. Please help, does anyone else experience this? I am dong all I can on my part, im not taking meds, I don't do drugs, I don't smoke or drink. I am doing Yoga and I meditate, I stopped drinking coffee. I am trying to control my stress, so what am I doing wrong? I sometimes feel like im going to die or just go completely crazy. This is not living. My lips sometimes twitch too, and so does my face, I have a spasm here and there when im asleep. My current dr says that he doesn't think is anything neurological based on my symptoms. WTF? Someone please help me. My dr wants to refer me next to an ear nose and throat dr because he thinks is something to do with my nose. I have told him that when im having issues taking deep breaths if I breath through my mouth it is always a fuller more satisfying breath than it is through my nose. But that does not explain the sensation of numbness. God please help. I don't want to die!

I sometimes would close my eyes and dream and not be asleep! I also would try to relax and I would feel like my legs are no longer apart of my body. Does the numbness come and go? Anxiety symptoms usually last a few seconds, minutes, or hours and even sometimes they can be ongoing for more. I had shortness of breath and it went back to normal in a couple days when I stopped thinking about my heart. I also had twitches all over and that is a common symptom of anxiety. When you stop thinking about a symptom for a few days or think of a different symptom the old symptom will go away or decrease in frequency.

Hey Christian,
thank you for your reply. The numbness sensation comes and goes sometimes lasting entire days. But its been on and off for months now, at least since June from what I can recall. The same with the shortness of breath. I just cant fathom that Anxiety can do all this with no end in sight. And as you said, I try not to think about it. I go on with my day but it's hard to ignore your body feeling sedated, dizzy, etc. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Is also nice to hear from guys on this site, you normally don't see that. is nice to know that there are more guys out there going through the samething.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it and see if its something that can work for me. Yes, I have been on a strict diet for a while now since I also suffer from Gout. So low sugar diet is in motion. I live in Southern CA so it's always sunny here, lol, and I do walk for at least 30 daily during my breaks where I get tons of sun. I also do Yoga at least 4 times a week and acupuncture once a week. Thank you again for the suggestions.

I too feel my body gets that numb feeling specially in my legs and I feel like I'm floating at times. It's scary for me too but we have to tell ourselves that it's just anxiety even tho it's still hard for me. I try to ignore it but it can be hard at times. Anxiety sucks man.

Lopez,
Yes it can. Even though I have been able to control my panic attacks and I feel that I have a grip on my anxiety, it is still very hard and difficult when you're feeling these scary symptoms. Especially when they are hard to describe. I think that every time I say I feel numb people think is the actually numbing when it is totally different. But thank you for your reply, I guess all we can do is hang in there. Meditation and Hypnosis usually help me to relax. I normally do them on the weekends when im lounging around the house or right before I go to bed. Good luck to you

Hello,
I highly recommend looking into Dr Claire Weekes on youtube, she has a lovely way of explaining the physical symptoms of anxiety some of which you may not know existed. Numbness is a symptom I have dealt with for a few years now, try not to worry these feelings arent permanent.
