Yeah and more. Serious Immune infections are also a Hugh problem. They happen often and with no notice. This is a brain inflammatory disease that affects inflammation in most parts of the body. From colon, bladder, stomach, sinuses, endometriosis you name it. Our brains do not shut down the pain messages. It's like someone dropped something heavy on their foot they will have reasonable pain and shortly recover ...we have pain 100x worse with a long recovery. Our cells don't store energy. That's why we crash and burn. We don't get restorative sleep. Even MS patients can sleep ( studies show this). This illness sucks big-time. Your not crazy this is your new reality.

It seems that a significant minority of people go on to suffer from post-viral symptoms after catching glandular fever. We do not know why, and we do not know how to help. The good news for you is that of those who are still ill after 8 months, most go on to gradually recover. Unfortunately, some do not. If I were you I would just try to take care of yourself, do what feels best for you, and hope that your body naturally recovers. There are lots of people out there making money from pretending that they know more than they do, and claiming that if you do as they say then this will help you recover (as well as rip-off alternative medicine, lot of mainstream UK doctors have been misled by poor quality research in this area, eg the PACE trial was discussed in the New York Times article "Getting It Wrong on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome"wink. I would be deeply suspicious of all of them. Good luck.

PS: If you do go on to recover, feel free to donate some money for research to help those of us who did not!

I think that smilie occurred due to my punctuation, and was not intended to be a cheeky wink about the harm done by poor quality research.

You are exactly right about the medical community completely inadequate. It's going to take a long time for them to catch up. Look at AIDS how many had to die before they let go of their prejudices. Most diseases go that route. I have some serious issues with doctors right now. I can't tell you how many I Fired!! Got in some pretty heated discussions. I don't have one now. Last thing I said a 20 months ago "your useless. I said I would pay they bill when you do your f***ing job. ". I talk about the success I've had with medical marijuana in most of my posts. So encouraging !! I think because this illness causes so many problems that they can't figure out they discredit us the patient. It makes me very angry.
