IgM is unreliable and should be ignored. IgG is the only test you should look at. There are two HSV types. You appear to be negative for HSV1, but positive for HSV2, which is nearly always genital. Has your partner been tested for HSV2? He should test using the IgG antibody test as well.

He is making appointment is there a possibility he will come up negative. ??? 5.32 mean ??? Its something recent or Ive been had.

It would appear to be something you already had, but it's impossible to say for how long. Could have come from your current partner or from one before.

If you want to check for sure, you can order the western blot test via the University of Washington. It's not cheap, but it's the most definitive herpes test out there. But see how your partner tests first. Have you never had any genital symptoms, btw? Also, have you ever had a cold sore? You tested negative for HSV1 IgG, but just asking in case it missed it.

Nothing but it seems like since she told me i feel like i got all the symptoms... i feel stressed out I cant eat or even work just in a daze like a bad dream but in I did redo my blood test Tues. What do igg mean if my number goes up do that mean 5.32 to like a 8, 9 or 14 what does that mean low numbers mean recent high numbers means of old infection

When did you do the first test in relation to the second one? If closer together, there should be little change. If spaced out by a month or more and still no change, then that would seem to indicate a pre-existing infection. If a big increase, then this is a recent infection. Some change is normal (up or down) and means nothing, unless significant.

And thank u for your help .. im trying gain as much knowledge about this disease. Any suggestions on how I should diet. What are signs I need to look out for. Since Ive never had a break out or no sign what do that mean.... Or maybe I did have signs and I might have thought it was because my period was coming on.

They don't test for it routinely, because even the best mainstream test is not always accurate in certain cases and genital herpes can also be caused by HSV1, which most people carry orally as the cold sore virus. It makes it all very tricky, but I totally get your frustration.

For more info, why don't you start by looking at my post that's pinned to the top of this forum. I have a lot of info, plus links to external sources, etc. It's a good starting point.

Fyi, you can get herpes even with a condom. Also, the IgM test is unreliable and inaccurate for herpes. Even the US Center for Disease Control does not recommend that particular test for herpes. Only IgG is any good, and even that can be flawed under certain circumstances.

Yes thank you I have been reading as much as I can about this disease... now My thing is trying to figure when I am having a break out and searching for sores or blisters or lesions. My other question is it worth taking the meds some say they do it to help with break outs and others do it because it can help reduce the chance of there partner catching caughting the virus. Do you take the meds

My recurrences are not too bad, touch wood, and I am currently single, so I do not take the meds. I would take them if engaging in a sexual relationship with a negative person, however.
