Hi all,

I feel at the end of my witts; I don't know what to do any more.

I'm 24, female and based in the UK. I have had stomach issues for some time now and have been assessed by two GP's; first one in person and second on the telephone.

I have had several symptoms for some time and diagnosed as having IBS. I don't believe I have this, but I'm unable to convey this to the GP. On the second appointment, the doctor couldn't explain some symptoms and said that I need to make lifestyle changes (which I have already done).

The symptoms I have:

  • Severe Stomach Ache
  • Stomach Spasms.
  • Severe pain after passing stools.
  • Blood in stool during periods.
  • Passing blood from anus (feels like urinating blood).
  • Stomach Gargling.
  • Hot/Cold Flushes.
  • Fatigue.
  • (Maybe unrelated but Sharp stabbing pain every few months under left breast, difficult to breathe at times).

What have I tried:

  • Mebeverine regularly on several occasions and this has not improved any symptoms.
  • Peppermint Oil Tablets.
  • Blood Tests
  • Anal Examination
  • Given up dairy (now Vegan)
  • Tried giving up gluten-free (no difference)

I don't eat any food that could trigger it either.

I'm on Sertraline for (Anxiety and Depression) and Neditol XL (Painful Bladder Syndrome).

I drink approximately 20 units of alcohol per week.

I don't know what to do any more; my GP isn't listening, and I feel I'm at the end of the road; I cannot carry on with this pain any more.

I cannot afford a private consultation and thought this as a last resort. If anyone can help I would highly appreciate it.

Thank you.

firstly breathe. secondly seek a totally different opinion. thirdly and you won't like me saying this alcohol fuels ibs please ask ANYONE on here! accept the doctors view so far BUT you need to find out WHAT to do with your diet especially, what you can do to help with the pain? try NOT taking mebeverine, EVERYONE on here will tell you it's awful, try speaking to your chemist about buscopan, colpermine and maybe no peppermint? when your stomach is sore try BLAND, bland foods, like a probiotic. i gave up alcohol, cut most curry, spice, mint and other things out and i now am coeliac, have ibs type symptoms, acid indigestion/reflex and awful symptoms each month. 1 step at a time. believe what you're told! see a dietician and please try to drink LESS! oh and good luck.....

      Thank you for your reply.

I will look to cut out alcohol; which is unfortunate!

I stopped taking Mebeverine some time after taking it for a while as it did nothing for me. I only recently started taking peppermint (colpermine) from Holland and Barrett.

My concern is with the two symtpoms that no one can answer:

      1. Bleeding from the bottom (literally like weeing but instead of urine, blood)

and 2. The sharp pain under my left breast every few months leaving it hard to breath at times.

The passing blood in stools, is that only happening during your period, or is that happening other times as well? Is blood literally peeing out of you so you need to wear pads?

Is the blood fresh or is it dark?

      Hi,

There is two separate symptoms relating to passing blood that both happen when I'm on my period only.

      1. Blood in stools
      2. Urinating like out of bottom (blood)

Again both only happen when on period and it's fresh blood, not old.

Blood also leaks from my bottom during day so have to wear a pad.

    Hi all,

I've had a call from the doctor today and he said it was playing on his mind last night and that he doesn't think it's normal to be bleeding during period from my bottom; he thinks it may be endometriosis but in the bum. He is going to refer me for a colonoscopy. Something that I am happy about that it's being looked into.

    Thank you.
