Please help! Is this herpes, syphilis or something else??😭

for some context, my partner and i have been together for one year. he has no symptoms despite us having unprotected sex

for the past month or so, i've felt a slight pain 'down there' when we've had sex but afterwards the pain would stop. I started to experience itching (it did not hurt to itch). One week ago i decided to check if there was any signs of something wrong. i noticed my perineum looked cut (see 1st photo) and my vagina was extremely red and irritated. Then a few days later i see more cuts/sores down there (see photo 2). it has got worse ever since (see photo 3). it feels as if i have a UTI as I need to pee a lot more frequently but i also have A LOT of white discharge. it does not hurt to pee and i have not had fever-like symptoms. i have seen a medical professional who informed me she thinks it is herpes so she did a swab. she gave me herpes medication to take. im waiting for my results and feel extremely anxious and depressed. luckily my boyfriend is extremely supportive. i was wondering if anyone else has had the same symtoms and been diagnosed with herpes or a different STD? or if anyone has some advice? i have pretty much accepted its herpes or something else extremely serious

Def something but cant say if its herpes or something else. If it is herpes i doubt either of you cheated, sometimes symptoms take a long time to show up, either way go to the doctor as soon as you can

Thanks for your reply! Do you have an idea of what else it could be? I've had a swab done at the clinic and am waiting for the results, I'm just so worried

hi it does look like herpes ( open sores/ ulcers ) . if you take the medication for it given by your doctor it will go away in no time! you're not alone! its amazing to have a comforting partner. i have been experiencing flu-like symptoms & ive had cold sores around my lips so at this point im pretty sure even without blood work that i do have HSV but i will be getting it under control soon!

UPDATE: Today my boyfriend noticed dry, flaky skin on his penis. It looks like a grey-ish colour. There is no irritation or discharge though. He is also circumcised, I don't know if this is relevant. He said it has only looked like this the past couple days. Could this be linked to my symptoms??

i wouldn't worry until your results come back. long story short, i had rough sex one night, (also had mild cold symptoms prior) and the next day, my vag was super dry and i had red patches down there, along with an insane red rash. went to gyno, he didnt even hesitate- told me i had herpes. i literally went thru two weeks of hell, feeling alone and helpless and it ended uo not being herpes. i still dont havr a diagnoses, waiting on a dermatologist!

This literally sounds like my story!! I have been with my bf over a year now and about a week and a half ago I started getting these and went to a clinic and told me they were pretty sure it was herpes 😦 then a like 2 days later my bf got bumps on his pubic area so he went to get tested. We both just got our results and we're positive 😦 I'm sooo devastated, we're not sure who passed it to who because it was both our first outbreaks. I've been a mess but he's being super supportive. I think I would be having a harder time if I didnt have him. But i'm already coming to terms with my diagnosis.

awww im so sorry to hear that 😢 at least you have each other! my boyfriend hasnt had any sores, just dry skin, so i dont think he can get tested. i feel the same, its a lot easier having a supportive partner. i also have eczema, im trying to think of this as 'just another skin condition' xx

We have had unprotected sex for a while now so we were pretty sure we would both test positive 😦 and definitely, having a supportive partner is a relief. Have you gotten your results back? ours came back pretty fast like 3-4 days

yeah I would assume the same thing! nope havent heard back yet 😢 the sexual health clinic took the swab last thursday around 7pm. i am meant to get a text or phone call but she also booked another appointment with me for this thursday. are you based in the uk? do you know if my bf could get a blood test? from what ive read, it seems people in the UK can only get tested if they have a sore xx

I'm in the US. I've heard that if you've had herpes for a while it will show up on a blood test but if its recent then it won't detect it. That's why they don't include them in the STD panels. A swab test is the most accurate and it will tell you if its HSV-1 or 2. My bf got tested Thursday and got his results back Monday.

Oh okay thank you! I think that may be the same here. He may get a blood test in a few months if he has no symptoms. I got my results back just now, positive for type 1, negative for type 2. Good luck for your bfs results xx
