My boyfriend and I have been on and off for 7 years. He has cheated with multiple women and he has been having unprotected sex with them. I was recently diagnosed with herpes. I have sex with other people but we have used condoms. He hasn't gotten tested yet but he is sure he gave it to me. I have gotten tested for stds before and I tested negative. Is it possible for him to have gave me herpes and I'm the only one having a outbreak? Or could it have been dormant for all these years and I'm the only one with it? I'm really confused

My doctor said that I was exposed to both types. I have 3 children and I have been tested for everything because of my pregnancies and I didn't have it.

Hey so I kissed my new partner then a few days later I got another cold sore on the opposite side of my mouth .. I always get them on right side now it's on the left I really been stressed about school and now I have another one on the right side .. Does this mean I got hsv2 from him since its on opposite side ? I'm just so confused because it says usually breakouts occur in the initial site

It's unlikely to be HSV-2, just regular Type 1. Herpes outbreaks can sometimes appear elsewhere in the impacted region.

Yes both are possibilities. How were you diagnosed? Did you have a swab done? Did you have a blood test (igg) done? Not igm as it isn't reliable.

Ok so that would suggest you've had it for at least three months prior to testing. Unfortunately there's no way to specifically say exactly who transmitted to you. It is possible that it could have been dormant in your system for some time and you're just now having an outbreak, it's also possible that he could be positive and not symptomatic as said by FelisCatus. Yes it's also possible considering you've been with him for quite some time that if he is positive, he may have given it to you in the past but it's hard to say at this point.
