Hello everyone! I don't have the time or money to go to the doctor right now so I figured I would ask here instead.

I've been really itchy outside of my vagina for many, many months on and off. I don't always feel itchy so it is really weird. Every time I've felt itchy I've always taken a hot shower and it stops the itching for a while. But then at night it is always sooo itchy and so annoying. Idk what to do and I don't know what it is either.

It is itchy all the way (the whole line) but I have not been sexually active at all for months. I've been using toys but I always clean them and have always showered after so I doubt that that is the issue.. please help me!

    Dear jenny,

    This is quite a common problem but the solution is not always straightforward. It will mean some changes to your lifestyle, cleaning/washing habits and what you wear.

    • Try applying moisturisers like Aveeno, Diprobase or E45 in the groin crease after washing
    • Try Johnson's baby soap or 'Simple soap' instead of perfumed shower gel.
    • Wear cotton underwear and skirts, not skinny jeans or tight fitting clothes to improve ventilation.
    • Use non-biological clothes detergent
    • Being overweight can worsen chafing/rubbing of your upper thighs, which will worsen the itching; so stick to a calorie restricted diet.
    • In case of a mild yeast infection, apply clotrimazole (Canesten) cream in the crease
