Please help me find a diagnosis!

I'm 21 and I've had hearing issues my whole life. I had ear tubes placed when I was a kid, once those fell out I continued to have chronic pressure issues and ear infections. At 13, I had permanent tubes placed in, but a year or so later those fell out too. Every doctor I've seen says there's something wrong with my ears but they don't know how to diagnose me since every MRI scan I've done has come back normal. One doctor just told me I'd never be able to hear normally. I don't get ear infections anymore, but I constantly have a feeling of my ears blocked up, headaches, dizziness and fatigue that affects my everyday life. The blocked up feeling can change and get worse in one ear or the other randomly as well. And my ears never pop- not even on planes. I'm just at a loss as to what to do and how to fix this?

    Hi,

Sorry you are having to go through this.

I have similar symptoms. My MRI scan came back normal too. ENT specialist said that it could be ETD and only option was to have grommet surgery. I was desperate so I did. The symptoms came back 2 weeks after my surgery. At my follow up the specialist just said to take painkillers. I actually went back to my GP who offered me anti-depressants which I refused to take before the surgery was offered to me and I wish I had taken them before. They helped with my symptons but my body got used to them and they stopped helping. I researched online for ages and came across articles about TTTS tonic senor tympanic syndrome which is an anixety based condition and can cause tinnitus. It says magnesium supplements can help so I took them and they have. I do still get some symptoms mostly pain but its manageable and its not constant.

If you havent done so already, maybe go back to your GP and see if they give you a private referral. I was told that if its not on the NHS website, specialists at normal hospitals cant diagnose you with it.

    Hope this helps 😃
