Please help me, is this IBS?

I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on my symptoms. I've feeling a lot of gas and bloating. More like passing gas all day long, sometimes the symptoms ease up but they get worst after I eat or sit down. I have a lot of rectal pressure-almost the feeling like sometimes is stuck in there or an irritation. I have frequent urges to use the bathroom but not much comes out and when I do go I feel like I haven't emptied my stomach all the way. I would say that the gas, constant rectal pressure, and feeling of not emptying my stomach completely are the most prevalent symptoms. I do not have any blood in my stool and my stools range from normal consistency to a soft mush. The same thing happened to me one month ago and went away-so I just assumed it was a stomach bug, but now it came back again and I'm really concerned. I know that a sedentary life style and stress can cause IBS-I do sit around 8 hours at my desk and have a lot of stress in my life. Could this be IBS? I'm terrified to go to a doctor because they are obsessed with performing colonoscopy and endoscopy and I can't have them.

    Dear Layna

You just described me! I have the exact same symptoms as you - I can even wake up with abdominal pain caused by trapped gas...

I guess it is an IBS flare up caused by stress and eating all the wrong things. Mine is combined with a hormonal rollercoaster due to perimenopause - lucky me 😃

Hope it helps to know that you are not alone!

Thank you so much for the response-it's good to know that I'm not alone. I'm 39 years old, I guess you can say that I could be perimenoposausal as well(?) I know that my hormones are out of wack for sure because I get a BVs as well as UTI's alongside my stomach issues despite taking probiotics!

Thanks again for the response and I hope you feel better!

Your symptoms could be IBS, especially if you have been stressed. However, you will need to go to your doctor to be correctly diagnosed by having tests. You may not be given a colonoscopy or endoscopy; I wasn't given these tests when I was diagnosed with IBS. I had a bad reaction to an endoscopy years ago when I had sedation so I would be unable to tolerate it again and I would likely react badly to a colonoscopy too for the same reason.

Don't be afraid of seeing your doctor; this is your only way of getting answers.

have you considered any possible food allergies or intolerances? I know certain foods give me bad flare ups and when i eliminate them ..they do go away for the most part... especially the whole gas thing.
