Please help!! Terrified something more than IBS

Hi all
Please help me - I am a 26 year old female and have been suffering from bloating, gas, pain, mucus in stool, alternating diarrhoea and constipationfor the past few months and I have also noticed red bits in stool, but it looks like tomato / red pepper skins.
I have been to my doctor who ordered blood tests and stool tests which all came back normal except I have low iron (not anaemic though). Tests which were normal included a blood CRP, FOBT and faecal calprotectin. Overall, my doctor thinks it could be IBS but wants to make sure all other causes are ruled out and referred me to a GI last week.
However, today I noticed a small amount of blood in mucus after having diarrhoea. I have had brown / orange mucus before but never with a little bit of blood. I did have diarrhoea yesterday / today - could haemorrhoids be the cause? I am so anxious!!
I have an appointment with a GI next week however I dont think I will be able to have the colonoscopy for at least a month - I am absolutely terrified and cant stop thinking the worst!! I really want to talk to someone like my family or partner but I dont want them to worry!

hi mi, i can see why you are worried. take things a step at a time. firstly what you describe does sound like it could be IBS. IBS is only identified if anything else is ruled out. i still sit on this forum and i definitely know now that i have coeliac disease, which is a different condition completely. if you stress yourself out then you could find your symptoms get worse sadly. ask your chemist for medication to deal with any pain you have as they will know best what you could try. can i ask if you are more constipated or loose bowel movements? you can have medication to bung you up s bit or keep your bowel looser. ask your pharmacist not just someone on a till. you could try any exercise you like to keep as relaxed as possible. if you're struggling speak to your doctor's again. if this was anything serious your doctor's would want you to speak to someone very quickly, so the fact they they've said a month away is reassuring. good luck with all of it. you will be ok.

Thanks so much for your reply! I am definitely going to try to ease my anxiety - I definitely think it is likely to be making my symptoms worse at the moment.
I would say my bowel movements are more loose but I definitely have constipation as well. Thanks for your advice on going to speak to a pharmacist - I will definitely go and see what they recommend.
