Yesterday morning i woke up got out of bed felt a little off nothing much, then i put my head back to look at the light and then looked back down and ive never experienced anything worse in my life. ive experienced periods of dizziness before but this was nothing ive ever had before

The whole room was turning upside down and shaking my eyes were all over the place it lasted about 30 seconds and i fell to the floor but didnt pass out then it calmed down so went down had a drink and decided to put head on the side and it happened again and again but then finally it calmed down.

i went to hospital to get checked out had ECG, BLOODS, CT Scan and all came back clear they actually dont know what it was they said possible vertigo.

the only thing is i have high blood pressure but had this for months and dont take tablets as prescribed but pretty sure high blood pressure wouldnt cause that.

i am so scared in case this happens again im worried sick

it does sound like vertigo brought on by anxiety. Even if you didn’t feel anxious before it happened, there still can be an underlying anxiety. When we are constantly worried about our health, we are sending signals to the brain telling it that something is wrong. When we do this over and over again, it’s really not a surprise that something like this can happen.

I have had vertigo also and I know that it’s no fun. But really when you think about it, we keep putting this stress on ourselves with worry and the brain just reacts in different ways. The sympathetic nervous system is activated and so we get all kinds of symptoms. Sometimes it’s increased anxiety, sometimes panic, other times it’s vertigo. It’s just the way it works.

The best thing we can do is bring down the anxiety level , stop googling and get some support so these things don’t happen or happen rarely. The body is going to react in one way or another if we keep up The worry and fear. Take care

Thank you so much Jan for your reply.

I just cant shrug away the worry of it happening again, ive had dizziness in the past which is never good but this was to an extreme. i actually dont know how i didnt pass out it was that bad.

The best way i can describe it is the whole room going up and down, side to side spinning and that feeling you get when you take off in a plane rising up but to an extreme all at the same time.

The thoughts going through my head i was praying i would pass out but it then settled after about 30 seconds but happened again when i moved my head back or either side

      Jan i am worried sick

I know Jonathan, I know it’s very scary. I myself get a sudden onset of dizziness but even when that goes away, my head still feels weird for a very long time. I am talking weeks and maybe longer. I don’t know what goes on when I get that inside my brain.

my experience with vertigo a few times was definitely the room was spinning and I just wanted to get out of the horrible feeling! It also made me nauseated.

I do know for a fact that people who have anxiety are more prone to getting vertigo.

working on the anxiety would definitely lessen our chances of this happening again. I’m trying to take one day at a time and not worry about anything at all. It’s difficult .

so I hear you!do anything you can to relax your body and mind.

don’t think too far into the future just take it one day at a time.

I wish there was a magic pill. They will have this cured sometime in the future

i cant cope with worry of it happening again.

i dont want to go bed as when i woke up from sleep was when it happened.

if it does happen again what do i do?

Thing is im on citalopram to help with anxiety and on amitryptiline which i have been on months for neuralgia as for a while i get problems with neck running up my head behind right ear which helps with headaches and makes me sleepy.

i am scared to go sleep but trying to calm myself but i cant

it may not happen again and it probably won’t.but in the rare instance that it does, just go with it and use your breathing to calm yourself as much as you can.

The long slow deep breathing will activate the parasympathetic system which is the one that you want to be active. It helps calm you down.

If you panic and get really stressed out that will activate the sympathetic nervous system which will send out adrenaline and make you feel even worse.

I actually talked to myself saying that this is OK. I’m going to be all right. I kept my eyes closed in a dark room And I would just keep repeating that and doing the long slow deep breathing.... in through the nose out through the mouth and concentrate on that. If you just let it happen and not fight it; it will help.

listen to some relaxing music or Nature Sounds when going to bed so that you can completely relax. when you wake up, just get up slowly .I do hope you feel better soon. ❤

Thank you jan again for the valuable information and reassuring replies.

I am somewhat relieved that ECG, BLOODS, CT SCAN all clear but cant get that experience that i gad out of my head.

Mild dizziness is uncomfortable at the best of times but i can cope with it.

But this was severe dizziness and it felt like i was on severe turbulence rising feeling. But the whole room was going up and round all over the place i had to fall to the ground.

I just wonder if i am on my own but praying it never happens that bad again.

it mainly happened when i lied down on both my sides it raised my head back

The side effects of high blood pressure is what you described. its important to take your meds as prescribed, if not you could be at risk for heart attack, and many other side effects of uncontrolled high blood pressure.

By taking meds regularly can actually prevent the dizzy feeling, maintain a healthy pressure which does not damage other organs. Look up the dangers of high blood pressure, the list is long.

It's not a bad idea to purchase a OTC blood pressure monitor for home use keep track of how you are maintaining control of your heart meds and blood pressure.
