Please please help me.... possible heart problems

I have been having extremely bad heart palpitations recently. A couple off months ago, the palpitations got very very bad and it feels like my heart is fluttering. Today in work, my heart started to "quiver" in my chest and a panic attack ensued. I ended up going to my work doctor and they took bloods checked my BP and pulse and said everything was normal. He prescribed me Bisop 1.25mg beta blockers. Has anyone any info on if they are good or do they have bad side effects. Anxiety always has me questioning whether to take things or not. Please help me. Has anyone any experience in this field?? And has anyone ever experienced maybe an arrhythmia or anything??

Hi Rachel. My doctor prescribed me with 40mg propanalol beta blockers which I was reluctant to take at first so I only took half to begin with. I found that this helped almost instantly, my heart stopped pounding and went back to normal. I too dont like taking medication because of my anxiety but it may be worth trying just one and seeing how you feel. The dosafe you have been given seems quite small however, do not now about side effects etc. Hopefully someone else can help you with this. Take care

He wanted to wait to give me the beta blockers because of the thyroid test. Some Meds can mask symptoms or something. But I really needed something to tide over the flutters. I'm hoping the dose works. Thank you for replying and helping x

for almost 6 months now I've been taking a beta blocker. Metoprolol. I too have have anxiety issues about taking new medications. I've had some bad reactions. Before I started taking them I had heart palpitations from just walking around. It got to where if I did anything remotely taxing my heart would beat like crazy. This would also be followed by a panic attack usually. I was a perfectly healthy 30 year old with zero health problems prior. I can safely say that this is no longer an issue. The medicine worked like the doctor said. Though the side affects for the first few weeks can be kinda tough. You will be very sluggish and tired. I would go to bed early and take naps. I still suffer from panic attacks which is a whole nother issue, but atleast my heart doesn't pound like it used too.

Yes Rachel,  I get a lot of heart palpitations and feelings like it's skipping a beat. Those are absolutely common symptoms of anxiety and panic. If everything checked out  normal,  it's time to start working on the anxiety. One thing to remember…  with anxiety, heart palpitations cannot hurt or kill you. If you have a healthy heart you will be fine. I actually exercise to help get rid of the palpitations because it calms everything down.

I also listen to online meditative audios and stress and anxiety. They are so calming!

I try not to take anything during an anxiety attack but if it's really bad I might take one quarter of a Xanax.

One last thing, I found speaking with a counselor to be very helpful! They see this on a daily basis and know how to help you manage this. I keep going even when I start feeling better. This is very difficult to overcome on our own and it's great to vent to someone. Hope you feel better
