Please share cyst stories that resulted in no cancer

Since I see many of us come to this forum looking for reassurance I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their cyst stories that did not end up being cancerous in the end. I suspect I have a cyst, I have another appt tomorrow with a different doc since previous doc is ignoring my concerns. I am having panic attacks and cannot sleep thinking of worst case scenario. Today I found mucus in my stool and googled (should not have) and it points to cancer. Can you all share your cyst stories, symptoms, fears, and results (only those that were not cancer) please? I promise I will follow up with my own results no matter what. It really helps knowing others understand and the outcome was not cancer.

My symptoms (I am not sure if these are related or not to what I believe is a cyst) all started two months ago and seem to be getting worse.

Pain in arm and armpit that starts at ovulation and ends at menses. The pain comes and goes, is not constant or consistent.

I am having trouble with bowel movements. Can't clear out completely, there is mucus in stool starting today, it's soft but I have to strain (it's like sensation to go is not there).

I have pain in lower right abdomen that has been there for almost two weeks and it radiates to hip, top of thigh, and lower back sometimes. I use over the counter pain meds to keep the pain down.

Just left breast swells after ovulation and returns to normal after menses but still stays somewhat sore. The pain in breast goes up and down in severity prior to menses. Right breast stays normal.

I had severe bloat that made me look pregnant. Tummy tight, heavy and uncomfortable for about 4 days but finally returned to normal for now.

I lost 3 lbs in one day. I am eating but I don't feel hungry at usual times. I just eat cause I know I should.

My stomach is constantly grumbling. Xray shows lots of air but it will not come out. It is very loud and moves all day long. Always sounds like I am starving but I'm not.

(appendicitis has been ruled out) Doc did pelvic exam but said she could not tell if what she felt was a cyst or fibroid.

sounds a lot like endometriosis. i was diagnosed a year ago after a sudden prolonged period. referred to ultrasound and found an enlarged ovary. because this wasn't seen a couple years before , my finding were marked as suspicious. i was then referred to a gyn specialist who couldn't say what exactly it was but figured it might be some kind of inflammation. i ended up having an investigative laparoscopy and stage 2/3 endometriosis was found. this wasn't seen on ultrasound and i have no history of it either. my symptoms all pretty much appeared suddenly.

i didn't have a cyst but have / had very similar symptoms to yours. the breast pain is usually associated with hormones, i regularly attend ultrasounds because i have known fibrodeanoma. so that's hormonal. endo responds to estrogen and since diagnosis, i have had abdominal pains, bad lower back pain that radiates down and some bowel symptoms like yours. bear in mind that everything else is always more likely than cancer. from what you wrote, i would ask for a gyn referral and consider endometriosis. good luck to you!

Thank you Tar2017! I never considered endometriosis. I guess I always assumed that would involve a lot of pain during menses and heavy, long (more than a week) bleeding. The doc I see tomorrow is not a gynecologist, I am going to ask for the referral to one for sure. I want everything covered.

hi Sarah, their can be loads of explanations for your symptoms but remember, one problem in our 'reproductive system' can cause majority of these, if you have a ovarian cyst or fybroid, this could be pushing on certain parts of your bowel, you lose weight with the worry as I did. If your oestrogen production is compromised because of possible cyst or fybroid, this can have implications with breast, my nipples became itchy before my hysterectomy. i went to my dr with low sternum aching leading through to my back, she thought maybe a small ulcer, while i was their, i mentioned occassional stitch pain (about every 6/8 weeks) in my right hip area, i wasn't concerned about this but she suggested a pelvic ultrasound to rule anything out, was in the peri menopausal stage started on meds for possible ulcer in stomach. US found a large ovarian cyst, i actually lost 4lbs in weight before i saw Gynae . leading upto op, the cyst grew fast, i was so tired, aching ribs, stomach bloating, nerve pain in arms, back of neck and symptoms that even google couldn't help with lol. It's so easy for me to say 'don't worry' but when you are going through this, it's not a full reassurance. please try to remember that symptoms you perceive to be malignant, you can also read elsewhere that they are benign. Always have hope, thinking of you and sending hugs ♥️

      Thank you Debz2004!

This reassurance is absolutely what I need to keep from losing my mind. I've never been so full of this much anxiety in my life. I have become obsessed with searching out cyst stories that turn out benign to keep me from crying all day long. Your stories that turn out well have really helped me cope. I cannot express how grateful I am to you both for sharing and reassuring me.
