Hi all. I've been to the doctors and everything else I'm now on sertraline. I suffer from anxiety/depression and I can over think things a hell of a lot. Basically I've been going to the doctors for approximately 5 years with a day dream and hazy brain fog feeling. Now other than that I have no other symptoms of dissociative disorder or dr/dp disorder I don't have memory loss I don't have out of body experiences or anything like that. I'm just extremely worried as out of curiosity I asked my surgery to view my gp notes, and I noticed my symptoms as... daydream state, fog in my head and haziness and I really have this fear of being wrongly diagnosed with dissociative disorder and losing my car and lorry licence when it comes to my licence renewal my doctor says they have no concerns with me driving so maybe I'm just over thinking things which I'm very good at. Please someone put my mind at rest this is driving me nuts. I hope all this makes sense to somebody.

 thankyou so much.

    Hi Paul

Sounds like brain fog, maladaptive daydreaming, and GAD. Depression can cause those symptoms too. Get diagnosed by your mental health professional. I over think everything it's part of my GAD in case you didn't know why. I daydream alot I'm always in my head. I dont know why though.

    Take care 👍

    Hey Paul

Depersonalization is a frightening Anxiety symptom. Its different to brain fog. Brain fog is also a Anxiety symptom.

    Paul

I just searched it. It could be dangerous if you drive if you constantly zone out.  Just stay safe and dont worry if he said you can still drive they won't take your license away. You definitely have Generalized Anxiety Disorder you over think things. That's the same thing I do all the time. Anxiety causes many things you'd be surprised. It really does affect everything. He probably said you have Dissociative Disorder because of your symptoms. I have some symptoms too from it but I'm not too sure I have that. Anxiety also causes the same symptom. (Brain fog, daydreaming)

Dr records your own discription of how you feel he is not making a judgement nor will this affect your career

Thankyou for the replies it really is appreciated. I've not been diagnosed with dissociative disorder I've only been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. My biggest fear is being diagnosed with dissociative disorder when I genuinely don't think I have it, I've looked into dissociative disorder in a big way and 99% of the symptoms I don't have.  Thankyou again.

Hi Paul.I have that feeling on and off since they started me on new meds for IBS/anxiety/depression.I currently take Mirtazapine 15mg twice aday,Gabapetin 200mg three times a day and Tramadol; 50mg twice a day for back pain associated with my IBS.Also Librax and Bentyl for the colon/IBS.The first three I've only been taking for abut 8-9 months at various levels until I reached where I'm at about 4-5 months ago (they also weaned me off of Paxil 20mg twice a day after taking it for 20 years). Some days I just feel like I'm in a fog and I'm just hoping it gets better as the meds settle in and my body and mind adjust.Other days it's better.Hope you can get a good answer and diagnosis from your doc.And your right about over thinking things .I do that all the time, but that is part of anxiety I guess.Or more accurately that's what contributes to it! Anyway stay strong and treat yourself to something nice.Prayers your way! God Bless You,Bob

    Thanks for the reply bob.

I guess what I'm tying to find out is can just anxiety and depression cause these symptoms without it necessarily being dissociative? Thanks all
