First day of estrogen patch only and turns out this is one of the worst days Iāve have since this started so I slapped it on.
Having a really hard time with fatigue tonight and feel very down ... praying this patch helps ... only been a few hours but dr said expect results in 2-3 days . S.O.S.

Lori, does your patch include progesterone? Iāve heard that it can take a while for your body to adjust to hrt. I started progesterone first then about a month later I started the estrogen. Then, about a month later my dr. increased my estrogen from 1 mg to 2 mg and my progesterone from 100 mg to 200 mg. I believe it was within 2 months after that I was feeling almost ānormal.ā 😂 Keep in mind that if you still arenāt feeling much better in a few weeks, please donā give up, you may need to increase your dosage (especially if your estrogen was really low when you started hrt)

So changed to estrogen only patch 0.05 mg only tried that for a few days and think it was too strong. Interfering with my sleep making me hyper ... so I cut in half yesterday and actually slept last night feel good today . Ā
So yes itās about listening to your body and just because dr says this will work and other women say it too.... everybody is different and some women can take anything pills patches cream whilst others are very sensitive to having a foreign body in your system.Ā

You are so right Lori. I was lucky to find a hrt that works. Some womenās bodies do have a hard time with any prescription. My heart goes out to you because I know how much youāve done and tried to find some relief. 😍

Hi Lori and anyone else that can help 😁
I have a Mirena coil and just started Estrogel 5 weeks ago , went up to 2 pumps a day 2 weeks ago , any ideas when my anxiety and low mood will lift ?
Iām 53 and post menopause but tbh think Iāve had a hard peri to and always suffered from PMS , my hot flushes have gone but Iām always knackered and ready for bed at 8pm , I stay awake till 10 at least but wake very early and canāt get back to sleep, I feel wiped out with the anxiety!
My appetite is slightly better although itās a small range of food I eat , I try to exercise and also do Mindfulness.
Any idea when my mood might improve would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Iāve decided Iām starting off slow on 1/2 dose and then will increase .... itās all a crap shoot . Thereās just not enough research and knowledge regarding hormones ... weāve been left completely in the dark ages and itās so so sad. This day and age thereās no real cure ? Shameful !

The anxiety and low mood are awful, canāt even leave the house some days 😩 any improvements on these moods would be like waking up again and maybe getting some happiness back.
Thanks for the reply

Our time will come 🤞

Iām praying it wonāt be much longer now , my anxiety and depression is really awful, done days I canāt even leave the house ! Donāt get me wrong I donāt expect a miracle cure but if the HRT just lifts it a bit I can start pushing myself more and help myself but at the moment itās just miserable.

Had Mirena coil in March then started on the Estrogel 5 weeks ago , should have had two pumps but the nausea made me go back down to one but been back on two pumps for 2 weeks now , night sweats have stopped and I think thereās a slight improvement with depression but anxiety is still very bad but Iām told it takes time to help with that, Iām willing to give it more time and maybe ask for some testosterone, itās supposed to really help.
Started a Diazipam taper 10 days ago so that wonāt be helping my anxiety either! Iām doing a very slow taper so hopefully that should help.
Howās you ?Ā

I think it takes time for the hormones to get to the right level thatās why Iām giving it more time , I feel a bit weird too but I suppose the brain needs to get used to the hormones again , the ones we are missing, Iām sticking with it in the hope that once my levels are ok then Iāll see an improvement on life.
Antidepressants just havenāt helped me so I have to give the HRT a shot especially with all the latest research showing that it really can help with any and depression, I need to find a solution so I can get a life backĀ

I think you have to listen to your body as HRT isnāt for everybody and some women have a bad reaction to the hormones .
Iām so fed up with all this ... I feel pretty good at night after my run and a glass of wine ... but the days are just AWFUL no joy no happiness .Ā

Hi Lori
But if itās helping your dizziness and a little with fatigue then maybe itās gonna start to help with low mood in a while , I donāt know cos Iām new to it as well .
Some ladies say you have to tweak or change HRT to find the right one and it can take time .
I always feel a bit better in the evenings too , days are not good , I wake up dreading the day 😩

Iāve been on Citalopran, fluoxetine (Prozac) , Sertraline and Mirtazapine, donāt want to try another so Iām sticking with the HRT for a while to give it a good chance , Iām using Mirena coil and Estrogel, will see how it goes .

Hi Lori
I suffer anxiety and depression but I think the depression was brought on by the anxiety!
Iām having a very low day today canāt even face going for a walk so have been in all day crying on and off , I to donāt know how people can last for years feeling like this , Iāve had some horrible thoughts 😩
Iāll het my estrogen levels checked next week when I have a blood test menopause specialist told me they need to be greater than 300 , she also said that it takes up to 3 months for the HRT to help anxiety and depression but could be sooner Iām coming up to 6 weeks, there are some tiny improvements but not massive yet.
With your anxiety do you feel nauseous and light headed and exhausted all the time ? Maybe thatās the depression with me or the HRT start up , I donāt know.
Hope youāve had a better day than yesterday

Yes I did the patch for about 6 weeks and now Iām back on the estrogen cream . I too wake up low .. and just donāt feel like myself . I thought the patch was making more down so Iām going to see if my mood changes without it. If not Iāll go back on it 🙄
In the meantime weeks months and hopefully not years go by until we feel well again.
Everyday is like climbing a mountain !
Hope you have a good dr and you can get some relief soon . Itās no life when the person that you were disappears and this new fragile person takes its place . If I donāt get at least 9-10 hours sleep my day is over I canāt do anything except wait all day for bed. Itās horrible.

Hi Lori
Yes Iām the same I wake up dreading the day and counting the hours down till itās bed time so I can sleep and escape for a while!
People say HRT takes longer to help with anxiety and depression so hopefully will see some improvements over the coming weeks 🤞 this is no way to live , I donāt even recognise myself anymore, to anxious to go out , to down to be bothered about anything, just want to feel some happiness again.
Such a sad state for some of us to find ourselves in 😩
Iāve just been wiped out today and lay on my bed ! Have done some exercise most days but such a bad sleep last night just couldnāt do anything today, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better for both of us.

Last night slept well after taking sleep pills but still canāt get out of bed ..... itās the same every day I lie here for hours watching tv and to get out of bed have to literally say 1-2-3 get up !Ā
I think itās partly because we know the day is going to be awful . I could stay in bed ALL day .

Are you post menopause? Iām 53 and post , havenāt worked now for 8 months, I worked all my life so now just donāt know what to do with myself, I donāt have friends who donāt work so Iām alone and the days are so long !
Fingers crossed that the HRT will start to give us some energy and a life again.
Iāve heard that woman can also get testosterone prescribed which is supposed to help with energy, do you know anything about that?Ā

Iāve taken the patch off and going to leave it off for a week as I thought it was interrupting my sleep ... maybe itās not though ? So now Iām just trying the bio cream at a very low dose ..
3 months to wait to see if it works feels like itās such a long time . I just want to feel like myself again .Ā
My testosterone was at a good level but I still canāt get out of bed and still downĀ

Just wondering how your doing? Has your mood lifted at all ? My low mood is a bit better but anxiety still keeping me in my house and stopping me doing general ordinary stuff like just going to the shop ! I know the HRT takes longer to work on depression and anxiety so still keeping my fingers crossed.
Iām reading a mindfulness book and also on the waiting list for CBT which is supposed to be good for anxiety.
Hope your feeling a bit better ?
Do you use the gel ? I use Estrogel and have a Mirena coil.
