im hoping to get some honest feedback and advice (i suffer from anxiety so im feeling really down about my situation).

ive been to the doctor and was diagnosed with external haemorroids (pic below). i was given over the counter cream and told to up my water and fibre intake, have epsom salt baths and it should be fine in about a week.

Hi S, I am only honest....they can go down completely, if you use the cream and keep up the soaking about 20-30 min ....2-3× daily, if they hurt when sitting, use a ring to take pressure off them, no straining for bowel movements, (if it hurts, you can use a personal lubricant/water based NOT petroleum jelly, inside the opening to make less friction during bowel movements), then soak and clean gently, pat dry...using a stool softener like docusate sodium....if FIBER(around 20g/daily) via food or bulk fiber like etc..& WATER(6 regular glasses/daily...more if sweating)increase don't help!! They are not bleeding, which is good, they can shrink back down over 1-3 weeks, depends on each person, if they start bleeding, it complicates things... you may find more tips on here, so keep reading, come back anytime, Good Luck & BEST WISHES💒🎶🌈♾🐾🍀☮

hey there! I know that seeing them flared up like that can definitely be distressing but I am sure that if you drink plenty of water and make sure you get enough fibre into your diet then they will go away. If this is the first flare up you've ever had then try to avoid future flare ups by not straining and keeping your stools soft. Try not to focus too much on them as I know they aren't nice to deal and just focus on recovering 😃

    Hi!

First off: I KNOW how you feel... I also have anxiety and painful roids. Difference here, my roids are SO SO much worse (I see 2 medium size on your pic, I have 8 larger ones, 3 of which are almost black, thrombosed, plus a whole bunch of internal ones). What you have there, is what I had 10 years ago. At that point in time, I was still able to manage them. Drink a lot of water, make sure your stool is very soft (like smooth peanut butter), so adjust your diet and/or add a laxative daily. Bath with warm but not hot water 15-20 at least 1 or two times daily (and after each bm). Cortisone cream will also help shrink them faster. NO heavy lifting, no standing or sitting for long periods. If you can, lay down as long as you can (most relaxed you can get). Kneeling with your head down, bum in the air, will help alleviate pressure. Advil for pain. I'm pretty sure everything will go back to normal fairly soon (or leave 2 tiny skin tags, which wont hurt.)

Now, you do not want to get those again once you've healed, so you need to keep a good diet, limit yourself: avoid heavy lifting at all costs, avoid standing too long... and know that mine got so bad because I gave birth to two giant babies (9+ lbs).

    Good luck!!

mine are like yours when they swell up. sometimes I have a lot of blood too so my gp thinks I have internal ones too but won't see me because of the covid 19! sometimes whilst having a bm I'll feel a little sharp tear pain and then there will be tons of blood in the toilet. so the gp gave me some laxido to make my stools softer so I don't have to strain. I've been drinking one a day for about 3 weeks now and I've had no more blood and my external hemroids have gone down and just left skin tags. if I do strain on the toilet they swell back up but gone again by the next day. maybe you should try a stool softener

thank you for the suggestion i appreciate it... they dont hurt or bleed thankfully but do look unsightly 😦 i will try your suggestion next week once i have finished my current course of meds. have they disappeared completely aside from the skin tags or does it still look a hit puffy?

apologies for the person question, im just trying to prepare myself mentally as i just want to look and feel normal again 😦

they've gone down completely so can only see the skin tags, no puffiness anymore unless I've strained on the toilet and then they swell up again. I've also used anusol in the past, the ointment version. I used to put it on in the morning, after a bath and before bed and that also helped the swelling go down when they were really swollen! defo recommend the stool softener though
