Plugs

Hi - has anyone out there had plugs put in their tear ducts in order to stop the awful grit in their eyes?   This is what my opthalmologist is suggesting I have done at my next appointment.   Don't know if I like the sound of it.

I not only had a few plugs in my eye

but also had tubes.  i don't have grit but i do have eyes that water 24/7.  The plugs are easy and don't be alarmed if that come out.  i had them and i also had them put in with surgery, they still came out.  After everything i am going through i would tell you to try them.  They just make a tiny tiny hole and put them in if done correctly you won't know they are there.

Mine also came out after 10 years. I had another set put in last year and one has already come out. If the second one comes out, I will have sutures instead. It's a simple process and it just keeps more moisture in your eyes.

Hi I had plugs put in my upper tear ducts just last week and the next day the y had to be removed. They were so annoying, it felt that something was on my eyeball. 3 months ago the optomalogist put the plugs in the lower tear ducts and one week later the right plug was popping out and the dr had to remove it. The left was left in and it was suppose to last about a year. On my next visit 3 months later it was gone. I did not feel any difference with them.maybe the will work for you

I had them put in - one in the bottom corner of each eye. The left one dropped out and I haven't had it replaced.

some people do alright with plugs i was not one of them.  Like i said i had quite a few sets of plugs, one set put in surgerical and still came out.  My sixth doctor wanted to try the plugs again, since i had so many, plus tubes put in for 6 months i decided not to go that route again.
