Hello All,
My father had vertigo on Aug17 after 3 days of left ear heavy. After consulting ENT doctor, he said that he has lost hearing in left ear. Vertigo got reduced after 2-3 days after having medicine prescribed by doc..We also consulted Neuro and done MRI to cut out all possible reason. MRI is normal. He is complaining more about heaviness feeling on left forehead which reduces some time and increases sometime...apart from forehead heaviness he also has tinitus (whizzing sound) in left ear and some time left ear also becomes heavy with pressure...there is improvement in hearing in left ear after latest audiology test.. we also done CT scan of both of ear after doctor advise and its all normal.
He is very much disturbed about not feeling fresh because of heaviness in left forehead... for him everything looks heavy.
Because of this he is very disturb, nervous and anxious. Some time he feels dizziness.
I dont know if its Menier.
Do you think if this can be cured by homeopath or any? Is it Menier disease?
His right ear is normal

I have attempted homeopathic and acupuncture. Neither worked for me. But I have a diagnosed case if severe minieres. As I write this I am having the same symptoms of heaviness. I have attempted all treatments in this forum. Unfortunately, severity of my issue required sectioning of the vestibular nerve to allow me to keep from falling. Beyond that, I have found nothing to help the heaviness or tinnitus. Something I'm afraid he may have to live with.
Sincerely

I was told that I would have to live with it as there is no cure.
I take Betastine 3 times a day and Serc, if feeling nauseous.
Unfortunately some days are worse than others so can’t plan anything until I get up in the morning.
I have not tried alternative medicine but it’s worth giving it a try?

to help with is anxiety.
for me anxiety and stress amplify the symptoms of M.D...
you need to find out and read up on what the symptoms
are to see if your father as mentioned them .
look up menieres disease on the home paige of this sight..
any vertigo is bad enough and worse in the elderly..
I use a stick as it it stablizes me so i can reajust my balance
and also gives a sense of security ..i think im right that
the meds they treat menieres with is the same as travel sickness
pills but dont hold me to it..E.N.T. will find him something that
helps but it does take time as they have to ilimenate everthing else..
best wishes....

My mom had meniere for 13 years and the dr. said no cure.
but I didn't give up and keep searching. Every time I visit acupuncture I had to face "failed"
But 5 years ago I found one acupuncturist and one time of treatment it was gone.
My brain was empty for a moment.... but it was really worked and my mom doesn't have meniere attack any more until now.
I know how serious meniere disease affect daily life and their family.
The acupuncturist now offered free treatment for first five patients.
Because people don't believe it.
whether you believe it or not it's your choice .
your dad can be free from meniere.
If you know how it's easy, but if you don't know then that's most difficult.
The MD said no cure, but i found it there is way to be cured.

I've all but lost my hearing in my left while the right is about 95%. I was diagnosed with MD about 4 years ago after my 1st episode of vertigo. For the first 2 years I could fell that heaviness in my ear like it feels like when you fly or drive up a mountain and think you can clear your ear. Now that is gone but my ENT says the hearing loss in the left ear is permanent. The thing that helped me is cutting down my sodium to about 1000 mg per day. It's not easy since almost everything contains some sodium. Read labels, stay away from lunch meat, olives, pickles and all the other thins I love. No fast food and limit the amount of prepared foods because they are both loaded with salt. It's something I've learned to live with and wish you dad the best of luck. One good thing about the hearing loss is when my wife snores I just roll over and sleep on my good ear. I've lost my hearing but never my sense of humor.

Do you have Menieres in both ears? I have it in my Right. I wanted my dr to cut the nerve but he refused because eventually it will go to the left he said. I’m just hoping it doesn’t for a long time. I have lost some hearing in my right so far so good in the left. Curious did they treat you with a diuretic? That’s the first line of defense.

Left ear only. I had a bad reaction to the diuretic so I had to cut my sodium intake on my own. Once you get used to it food actually tastes better because the flavor isn't masked by all that salt.

Table,
I noted in the discussions that one doctor advised against vestibular sectioning because it would go to the other ear. The sectioning is done to the balance nerve and will have no affect on the tinnitus. It is only done when you start having drop attacks unless otherwise advised by your doctor. I have lived with the sectioning since 2011. It took 6 weeks of intense therapy to learn how to walk again but I have no I'll affects. Everything everyone has said otherwise is true although I have not found an acupuncture specialist that can help and salt is the BIG NO for this disease
